Sometimes progress feels stuck , not because of the child, parent, or environment…

but because support is being introduced before the nervous system is ready to use it.

📌 Save this now, this shift changes everything.

Think about that for a moment...
How many times have you thought:

• "But it worked yesterday."
• "She knows how to do this."
• "We've tried everything."

What if the problem isn't the strategy?

What if the child simply can't access the capacity required in that moment?

This is one of the key ideas we'll be exploring in Beyond the Moment – Co-Regulation Deep Dive.

Because understanding what support is needed often changes everything.

Have you ever used a strategy that worked beautifully one day... and completely failed the next?
Most people assume the strategy stopped working.

What if that's not the real reason?
Over the past few years, I've become increasingly fascinated by one question:

Why do some children seem able to access skills one moment and not the next?

The answer has changed the way I think about behaviour, co-regulation, participation and support.

That's why I've created:
Beyond the Moment™ – Co-Regulation Deep Dive
A brand-new 4-hour online course exploring:
✔ What children may need beneath behaviour
✔ Why good strategies sometimes fail
✔ How to identify what support is needed
✔ Practical tools you can use immediately

Suitable for:
Parents • Teachers • OTs • Support Adults

Sometimes the issue isn’t the strategy.

It’s that the nervous system wasn’t ready for it yet.

When expectations, teaching, and support are aligned with the child’s current state, sessions often become clearer, calmer, and far more effective.

Because regulation changes what the child can access.

One of the biggest clinical challenges in paediatric OT is timing.

A strategy can be evidence-based, thoughtful, and well planned, but still fail if the nervous system is not ready for it.

Because effective therapy is not just about what you do.
It’s about when it can actually be received.

💬 Comment TIMING if you want a simple way to guide this in sessions.

Even experienced OTs can feel stuck when progress feels inconsistent and sessions stay behaviour-focused.

Often, it’s not a lack of skill.
It’s a lack of clear progression.

Without a framework for what comes next,
sessions can easily become reactive instead of capacity-building.

If every session ends at “calm,”
but the same patterns keep returning…
something important is being missed.
Calm matters.
That is where OT clinical reasoning matters.
