Every yes you’ve given this week. The fundraiser. The extra shift. Hosting again because saying yes was easier than explaining a no.

None of those decisions were wrong exactly. You just weren’t measuring them against anything.

Here’s the question underneath the question. Not should I do this. It’s do I even know what I’d be checking it against.

Because a decision only moves you somewhere if you know where somewhere is. Otherwise you’re just reacting fast enough that it feels like choosing.

You want someone to hand you a system, not help you build one that survives your actual life.
You’re hoping this fixes your relationship, your body, your business as if they are not connected.
You want to feel better by Friday.
You’ve never looked at the parts of your life you built on purpose and admitted they’re not working.
You think all the work happens in the session, not on the Tuesday at 7pm when nobody’s watching.
You’re doing it so someone else stops worrying about you.

Nobody tells you this part before you sign up for a coach.

Most of it doesn’t happen in the session. It happens in the ordinary fifteen minutes after when you’re back at the sink, back at the laptop, back to whatever version of you built the life you’re trying to leave.

A system won’t hold if it’s handed to you fully formed. It has to survive contact with your actual Tuesday. Your actual relationship. Your actual to-do list at 9pm.

So before you hire anyone it’s worth asking what you’re actually hoping happens. Whether you want to feel different by Friday, or you want something that’s still standing in week six, when it inevitably falls apart a little.

Nothing happens in isolation. Not the parts of your life that are working. Not the parts that aren’t.

Somewhere along the way we stopped having fun. It became the things we needed permission for. You needed a reason. A holiday. A birthday. A special occasion. A hard enough week that everyone agreed you’d earned it.

Nobody actually decided that. It just crept in, the same way responsibility crept in. quietly, and time, until one day being the reliable, capable one and being the fun one felt like two different women, and you’d quietly watched the second one fade away.

Stop waiting for the special occasion. You exist!!! That is the special occasion.

Your ability to have fun and enjoy yourself has far more to do with your purpose, your creativity, your passion and enjoyment in life that you give it credit for.

Send this to the friend you keep saying “we should do something” to and never do.

Did I put the washing in the dryer. Did I get back to my friend about that catch up. Did dinner get sorted properly. I’ve gotta remember that form for the kids school. I haven’t done my workout this week. When did I last sit down.

None of it was urgent. All of it was loud.

That’s the part nobody tells you about being capable. The load doesn’t get lighter because you’re good at carrying it. It becomes invisible.

You still look fine. Stuff still gets done. So nobody offers to help, because from the outside there’s nothing to help with.

And you don’t asking, because along the way you decided asking meant failing.
You keep going, keep doing, keep losing yourself piece by piece.

Isn’t it time to find you again.

Save this for the next time you’re standing in it, doing the thing while being somewhere else in your head entirely.

Recently someone explained a decision-making framework in about ninety seconds. With four words.

What i later realised was this framework was everything I do in my coaching sessions explained in the simplest of forms.

I picked up a whiteboard marker and didn’t put it down for an hour.

Because this was it. This is the whole thing I’ve been doing in every single session for years and I’d never been able to explain it in this way before.

Every result you’re carrying right now, the ones you’re proud of and the ones you’re quietly disappointed by, came from a decision. And every decision came from four questions running underneath it, whether you asked them on purpose or not.

Who you believe you are.
What you want and believe you’re worthy of.
What you’re prioritising and making important decisions.
And how you organise your resources.

That’s it. As simple and complex as that. And this process is having the biggest impact on your life. It’s actually creating your reality.

You don’t fix an outcome by pushing harder on the outcome. You fix it underneath, where the decision actually got made.

I’ve been doing this work for years and never once said it this simply. Now I can’t look at the whiteboard and not see it.

Save this for the next time you’re stuck on a decision that isn’t really about the decision.

She feels small. She feels like she’s shrinking in a life that used to fit her. She feels stuck, and not enough, and quietly terrified that the version of her who could do everything for everyone has just… gone.

That version of her wasn’t stronger. She was just absorbing. Everyone’s needs, everyone’s forgotten forms, everyone’s emotional weather & she held it all without asking whether it was hers to hold.

What she’s calling “less” is actually a woman starting to notice the difference between what’s hers and what she picked up because nobody else would. That’s not a smaller tank. That’s a woman who’s stopped running on empty for everyone else and started asking what’s actually true for her.

It doesn’t feel like growth, It feels like failing at something she used to be good at.

She used to say yes before the question was even finished. Yes to the roster, yes to the favour, yes to the thing that wasn’t really hers to carry, because saying yes was easier than sitting with what saying no might mean about her.

That wasn’t capacity. That was never once asking herself what she actually wanted underneath what everyone else needed.

Her body is asking her the question now, because she never asked it herself. Which of these is actually mine. Which of these was I only ever holding because nobody else would.

She’s not shrinking. She’s finally being forced to find out who she is when she’s not holding everything for everyone else.
