What is NDIS plan management and do you need it?

When you are approved for an NDIS plan, you get to choose how you want to manage the plan's financial admin.

There are four options to choose from:

1. Self-managed: you are responsible for paying your service providers and doing all the paperwork.

2. Agency-managed: your service providers invoice the National Disability Insurance Agency directly for their services (they have to be NDIS registered providers).

3. Plan-managed: an NDIS registered plan manager will take care of payments, keep accounts and statements organised, deal with any provider issues, cover any out-of-pocket expenses and keep you advised.

4. A combination of options 1, 2 and 3.

Using a plan manager like MyIntegra is often the preferred option for participants who want to save time and energy on their financial admin, and still have control and flexibility over their plan.

Did you know? A Support Coordinator helps NDIS participants understand and implement their plan by connecting them with the right services and supports. They work alongside participants to build confidence, develop decision-making skills, and navigate the NDIS more independently. Support Coordinators also assist in managing plan budgets, coordinating services, preparing for unexpected situations, and reporting to the NDIA. The level of support provided depends on each participant’s goals, needs, and the funding included in their plan.
