Well this was a bit of a pinch-me moment 🥹🥰

Today we had a surprise visit from Maggie Dent…yes, THE Maggie Dent.

For those who may not know, Maggie is often called the godmother of parenting in Australia, supporting families, educators and communities with her incredible wisdom for decades.

We had the absolute honour of welcoming her into The Village, sharing our space, picking her brain and having a beautiful conversation about motherhood, parenting and the importance of community.

Just another reminder of what this space is about - women supporting women.

Moments like this make our hearts very full 💜

As I am about to step into my final year of midwifery study, I would like to express my gratitude to each of you for walking the path with me (and yes, I am still massaging this year!). My 1st year was very much steeped into grief as my grandmother passed 2 weeks after I got accepted into midwifery. Last year was very intense and stressful. This year I am hopeful it will feel a little more spacious.

Running a small business is quite a financially risky game as there is no safety net. While I am lucky to have support all around me, through beautiful friends and Joel, I also came to appreciate being able to come back to massage after each placement/uni blocks. It feels like coming home. The flow of my hands and heart touching you feels natural. Before starting my degree, I had thought of just taking a job to pay for my studies. Truth is, the fulfilment I am getting from gifting massage is indescribable. While I am not always guaranteed to be booked out, I am guaranteed the joy to seeing you, the sense of purpose in my work and following families I have known across multiple pregnancies and generations.

The combination of doula and midwifery experiences have led me to deepen my understanding of pregnancy massage.
This year, I will be offering massage appointments in a more limited capacity, both in South Fremantle and West Perth. All my availability can be seen online and I am always happy to answer your questions.

Hello friends,
I have started offering pregnancy massage treatments from The Village in West Perth. Here is Narissa, an 8 month post partum woman, also training for a triathlon in May (!), who shares her testimonial after her 1st massage with me at The Village.
The Village Wellness Centre offers the full range of services for women at all stages. We offer midwifery and lactation services, Bowen therapy, women's circles, acupuncture, Reiki, massage therapy, holistic facials and more, nutrition for hormonal balances etc.

Pregnancy massage in the first trimester is SAFE. I hear countless of women coming to me and say that they could not get a massage for the first 3 months of their pregnancy because other places told them it was contraindicated.
I am trained, experienced and have massaged many women from the day they learn they are pregnant right up until they birth their baby-ies since 2014.

Some of the contraindications for massage (at any stages of pregnancy) are the following:
- heavy bleeding - in this case, you would have had additional appointments with your care provider who may advise against any physical activity/stimulatio
- heavy nausea/vomiting
- severe abdominal pain
- sickness: this is a contraindication for anyone, pregnant or not.

I am a birth doula and am in my final year of midwifery studies. I have been massaging pregnant women since 2014 and I have witnessed the many benefits of massage during pregnancy. They include ease in the physical body, a peaceful and calm mind and a deeper connection with the growing life within women.
