Did you know deaf people can sometimes “sign” in their sleep? ✋😴

A fascinating case study of a 71-year-old man with a severe hearing impairment and REM sleep disorder found that he used fluent sign language while dreaming. Researchers were even able to get insights into what he was dreaming about through his movements.

The brain really doesn’t clock off when we do—it just switches language modes while we sleep 💤✨

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic condition that affects how nerve cells grow and develop. It can cause changes to skin pigmentation, tumours on nerves (usually non-cancerous), and a wide range of symptoms that vary greatly from person to person.

No two NF journeys look the same — some people may have mild symptoms, while others experience more complex health needs.

This May, we’re shining a light on NF to build understanding, support those living with it, and recognise the strength of the NF community.

The NDIS is updating its participant newsletter to make information clearer, easier to understand, and more accessible — based on participant feedback 🙌

📩 What is it?
A regular email sent directly to participants and nominees, sharing important updates about the NDIS, including changes to planning and how to make the most of your supports.

✨ What to expect:
• If you’re already subscribed — nothing changes
• If you’re not, you’ll receive a welcome email first explaining what it is and how it works
• After that, it’s sent every 2 weeks
• You can unsubscribe anytime

⏱️ The rollout is gradual, so not everyone will receive it at the same time.

💡 Good to know:
Receiving the newsletter does NOT impact your NDIS plan or supports.

The NDIS website is still the best place for full, up-to-date information — but the newsletter is a great way to stay in the loop 📬
