Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder to check in on the people around you and ask how they're really going.
One thing that often gets overlooked during hard times is movement. Not as a cure, not as a challenge, but as something your body can actually use.
Three things consistent movement actually does:
▪️Supports sleep quality. A walk after dinner, even just around the block, can help your body settle before bed.
▪️Reduces physical tension. A few stretches mid-afternoon or some movement between tasks takes the edge off the tightness that builds through the day.
▪️Breaks the loop when everything feels stuck. Some days just getting up and moving to a different room is the start. A short walk, some fresh air, standing outside with a coffee as small as it sounds, it gives your body a cue that the day has begun.
If movement has felt out of reach lately, that's a reasonable place to start.
Our Exercise Physiologists work with people at exactly that point, building a plan that fits where you actually are, not where you think you should be.
