Sciatica can be incredibly frustrating, especially when pain starts travelling down the leg and impacting your ability to move comfortably.

The important thing to know is that sciatica is not just “tight muscles” or general back pain. It often involves irritation or compression of a nerve, which is why symptoms can include pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness.

At Toronto Health, our physiotherapists take the time to assess the root cause of your symptoms and guide you through a personalised rehabilitation plan designed to:
✔ Reduce pain
✔ Improve movement
✔ Restore strength
✔ Build confidence in daily activity again

Recovery timelines can vary, but with the right management and support, many people can return to doing what they love without ongoing limitations.

If you’ve been struggling with sciatica symptoms, book an appointment with our team today.

Tendon rehab isn’t random, it’s progressive.
Each phase has a purpose, and skipping steps is usually where things unravel.

Isometrics → calm symptoms + reintroduce load
Eccentrics → build control + tendon tolerance
Slow heavy isotonic → develop real strength
Energy storage → prepare for speed + elasticity
Sport-specific → return to performance demands

It’s not about doing everything at once, it’s about doing the right thing at the right time.
Progress too quickly? Flare-up.
Stay too conservative? No adaptation.

The goal is simple:
👉 Gradually expose the tendon to increasing load
👉 Build capacity that actually transfers to your sport/life

If your rehab feels like guesswork, it probably is.
Book in with the team at Toronto Health and we’ll map out a clear, progressive plan to get you from pain to performance.

Tendinopathy isn’t just “overuse”, it’s usually a mix of how load is applied, progressed, and tolerated over time.

Overuse.
Misuse.
Rapid-use.
Compression.

These are your provocative factors, and most flare-ups come back to one (or more) of these tipping too far.

Rehab isn’t about doing less forever.
It’s about finding the right balance:
👉 Reduce what’s aggravating symptoms
👉 Maintain (or rebuild) capacity
👉 Gradually reintroduce load with intent

Tendons adapt but only when the load is appropriate, consistent, and progressive.
If you keep swinging between “too much” and “not enough,” they’ll keep reminding you.

Load is the tool.
Balance is the strategy.

If you’re stuck in that cycle or not sure how to progress your rehab, it’s time to get a plan in place. Book in with the team at Toronto Health and let’s take the guesswork out of it!
