You’re not supporting a logo. You’re supporting a person who genuinely gives a s**t about you.
There’s no head office here. No customer service department. No marketing team. No mysterious “management”.
It’s me! Answering the messages, doing the admin, cleaning the space, paying the bills, fixing the things, learning, worrying, planning, creating — and then turning up to do the work I actually started the business to do.
And one of the very best things about that?
I know you.
I notice you. I remember what’s been going on. I care whether you feel comfortable walking through the door. I care whether the thing you came to me for actually helped. I care whether you leave feeling better than when you arrived.
At Flowstate, that matters enormously to me.
I’ve deliberately kept this business small and personal because I never want people to feel processed through it.
I want there to be time to listen, time to notice, time to adapt, and enough space for me to actually care about the person in front of me.
And I know I’m far from alone in that.
There are so many brilliant sole traders and tiny businesses quietly holding little corners of our communities together — practitioners, makers, artists, photographers, florists, hairdressers, trainers, food producers, tradespeople, creatives — and a hell of a lot of women building businesses around their skills, ideas and lives.
When you choose them, recommend them, share their work, leave them a review, buy the thing, book the appointment or tell a friend — it lands with an actual human being.
Someone notices.
Someone does a little internal f**k-yeah.
And that support helps keep interesting, independent, human businesses existing in our communities.
So yes, shop small when you can.
Not because small businesses deserve your money simply for being small.
Support the ones doing bloody good work.
The ones who care.
The ones who make your community better by being in it.
And when you find those people?
Tell everyone. ✨
