How many, and how far apart?

Two questions we get about PRX, so Alyssa answered them on camera.

Usually, a course of three, spaced about two weeks apart. The spacing isn't arbitrary.

The treatment works by prompting the skin to respond over the following weeks, and starting the next one before that's run its course doesn't get you there faster.

The reason it suits people who can't take time off is that it works without needling or ablating the surface, so there's usually no peeling or flaking afterwards.

Some tightness or pinkness for a few hours is normal, and how your skin responds depends on your skin.

Three is a starting point, not a rule. What's right for you gets worked out at your consultation.

Noticing changes in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven skin texture?

Skin Needling may help.

It creates controlled micro channels in the skin, and the skin's own repair response does the rest, laying down collagen, remodelling the tissue that's already there.

Those four things just happen to be what that response can improve the appearance of over the course of treatments.

Which is also why it's a course rather than an appointment, and why it works gradually. Remodelling happens over weeks. Nothing about it is immediate.

How much change is realistic depends on the concern, your skin, and where you're starting from - acne scarring in particular varies a great deal between people.

Redness and warmth for a day or two are expected, sometimes light flaking. Less commonly, infection, pigment changes or, rarely, scarring. Active breakouts, some skin conditions, certain medications and a history of keloid scarring all affect suitability.

It looks like a facial. Mechanically, it's closer to a device treatment.

When you have a Hydrafacial, there are three important steps.

The surface is cleansed and exfoliated. Congestion is drawn out of the pores by suction rather than squeezed out under pressure.

Then serums are applied while the skin is still receptive, which is the step that most often gets skipped in a standard facial. It maintains a barrier that's already working and keeps congestion from building.

It is not a resurfacing treatment, it won't restructure the skin, and it isn't a substitute for one if that's what your skin actually needs.

Afterwards, some redness and tightness for a few hours is normal, and skin prone to congestion sometimes surfaces a little in the days following.

Suitability depends on what your skin is doing at the time.
