Does acupuncture hurt? 🤍

It's one of the questions we hear most often.

The answer? Most people are surprised by just how gentle it feels.

Acupuncture uses hair-fine, single-use sterile needles, and many people find their treatment deeply relaxing.

If you've been curious about acupuncture but have been worried it might hurt, we'd love to answer your questions and help you feel at ease.

At Acunique Health Clinic, we provide lymphoedema assessment, education and personalised management to support people living with, or at risk of, lymphoedema.

We also offer SOZO® Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) assessments in clinic. This quick, non-invasive 30-second assessment can help detect changes in body fluid associated with lymphoedema, often before swelling becomes noticeable.

How does a SOZO® assessment work? 🤔

A SOZO® assessment is a quick, non-invasive way to measure changes in body fluid associated with lymphoedema.

During your assessment, you'll simply:
✔ Stand barefoot on the SOZO® machine
✔ Place your hands on the sensors
✔ Remain still for approximately 30 seconds

A small, painless electrical current passes through the body to measure fluid levels. Most people do not feel the current during the assessment.

SOZO® assessments may assist in the early identification and ongoing monitoring of changes associated with lymphoedema and are used alongside a comprehensive clinical assessment to help guide your individual care.

If you have had lymph node removal, cancer treatment, surgery, or have concerns about lymphoedema, speak with your healthcare practitioner about whether a SOZO® assessment may be appropriate for you.

✨ Introducing SOZO® Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) Assessments at Acunique Health Clinic

I'm pleased to now offer SOZO® Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) assessments as part of my lymphoedema services.

SOZO® is a quick, non-invasive assessment that measures changes in body fluid associated with lymphoedema. For people at risk of lymphoedema, it may assist with the early identification and ongoing monitoring of changes over time.

The assessment takes around 30 seconds, is painless, and can be used alongside a comprehensive clinical assessment to help guide your individual care.

If you've had lymph node removal, cancer treatment, surgery, or have concerns about lymphoedema, I'd be happy to discuss whether a SOZO® assessment is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

🤔Could you be at risk of lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema can develop when the lymphatic system has been affected by cancer treatment or other medical procedures.

You may be at a higher risk if you’ve had:
• Breast, melanoma, gynaecological or prostate cancer treatment
• Head and neck cancer treatment
• Lymph node removal
• Radiation therapy

Not everyone at risk will develop lymphoedema, but knowing the signs and having appropriate monitoring can help identify changes early.

If you have questions about your individual risk, speak with your healthcare team or contact Vicki at Acunique Health Clinic to discuss whether a lymphoedema assessment may be appropriate for you.
