So far this Virtual Care Awareness Week, we’ve looked at virtual care across:

👴 Aged care - helping residents access timely clinical support in familiar surroundings.

🌾 Rural and remote health - bringing specialist expertise closer to communities.

🌿 Indigenous health - supporting community-controlled, culturally safe care.

🎓 Medical education - preparing the next generation of doctors for virtual care from day one.

The settings are different, but the thread is the same: virtual care works best when it’s designed around the people delivering and receiving care and built into how a service operates.

📢 The 1 week countdown is on for SFT-26 (Successes and Failures in Telehealth) in Brisbane!

The Visionflex team will be showing off the latest in clinical virtual care technology including a sneaky peek at something that’s coming soon 🤫

If you’re at SFT-26, visit the team at stand #4 for a hands-on demo:

🩺 Listen to heart, lungs and body sounds through a digital stethoscope streamed live into the platform.

💻 Watch as vital sign data, including ECG, pulse oximetry and blood pressure, streams appear live on screen.

👀 Explore the possibilities of our multi-view camera tools with every angle of the consult room covered.

🧐 Talk with our team about how we can help your organisation build a model of care around your specific needs, pain points and existing infrastructure.

If you're looking into how to get specialist care into rural and regional areas, improve basic clinical care for remote communities, and reduce preventable aged care admissions at hospitals, Visionflex is ready and waiting to help your healthcare teams extend their reach and improve patient outcomes.

Virtual care works for Indigenous health when it is community-led, supports local teams and keeps care on Country.

Community-controlled health services continue to grow in impact. NACCHO Aboriginal Health Australia’s 148 member organisations run more than 550 clinics and deliver over 3.6 million episodes of care each year.

Partners must be ready to support care that is culturally safe, clinically robust and fit for the future.

Virtual care can only reach its full potential if tomorrow’s clinicians are confident using it from the very beginning of their careers.

That’s why medical education matters.

Rather than learning about virtual care as an emerging concept, students need hands-on experience delivering care in environments that reflect the realities of rural practice, so they graduate ready to deliver safe, patient-centred care across distance.

Where you live shouldn’t decide how long you live. For women in very remote Australia, the gap is 16 years.

At the National Rural and Remote Healthcare Conference 2026, our panel explored how virtual care can make better use of the clinicians already in rural communities and build care around each community’s needs.

Moderated by Abe Warwick, Director of Customer Success at Visionflex, with Lindsay Moore of Consultmed and Ben Chiarella.

Virtual care is already installed in more than 520 Australian aged care homes. This NSW Health Virtual Care Awareness Week, the question is: how well are we using it?

Aged care and in-home care providers face growing clinical needs, workforce shortages and slow access to GP and specialist support. The cost shows up in emergency departments.

When a resident falls or suddenly deteriorates, an emergency doctor assessing them by video can mean treatment in place instead of a trip to ED.

Virtual care is changing where and how people receive treatment. This Dementia Action Week (21–27 Sept), we're looking at what that means for people living with dementia.

Being moved into an unfamiliar environment can trigger real distress for someone living with dementia.

Virtual care changes that. Patients stay where they feel safe, families join the conversation from anywhere, and clinicians get a clearer picture of what's happening.

Dementia Australia's digital toolkit contains helpful resources and encourages conversations around dementia. Well worth a look.

At , three health leaders came together to tackle a hard question: why does virtual care work brilliantly at launch and quietly fade six months later?

Their answer: the model of care and considered implementation matter just as much as the platform. Here's what we learned.

What will it take to address the equity gap for rural and remote Australians? That was the question we were exploring in our recent webinar, Tackling the Equity Gap for Rural and Remote Australians, in partnership with Health Services Daily.

With The Hon. Bronnie Taylor, A/Prof Shannon Nott, Ben Chiarella and Josh Mundey, there was plenty to unpack, from models of care and scope of practice to funding, workforce and how we can build on what’s already working.

We’ve pulled together a wrap-up of the key themes and takeaways from the conversation in our latest blog post.

This week, the Visionflex team spent two days at NRRHC, co-located with the National Indigenous Healthcare Forum, in Sydney. One thing kept coming up: technology is not the answer. It's the enabler.

Day 2 featured a panel with Lindsay Moore (consultmed), Ben Chiarella (Visionflex) and Amy Coghill (SWSLHD), moderated by Abe Warwick (Visionflex), where they discussed the barriers and the proven pathways to advance virtual care adoption in rural and remote communities and a few things stood out:

Build the model around the clinicians and capabilities that are already in place, not just around the technology. Empowering existing local health providers with specialist advice and guidance in a timely manner is where the trust between patients and the care system begins.

Context and flexibility matters. No two towns need the same model. Virtual care models must be built with local input and engagement.

Don't try to transform your whole service overnight. Break it down into small, achievable changes over time equals big wins.

And none of it works without investing in the people delivering it.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk all things remote and Indigenous health. Small crowd, big appetite for change.
