Sometimes a change in perspective is all we need to remember that one difficult moment isn’t the whole picture.

We grow through the wins, the challenges, and everything in between. Each experience shapes us and becomes part of our journey.

Growing up comes with plenty of changes, and young people don't have to navigate them alone.

This International Youth Day, we're recognising the importance of supporting the health and wellbeing of young people in our community.

Whether it's mental health, vaccinations, sleep, nutrition, managing a long-term condition, or simply having questions about growing up, your GP is here to provide advice, support and care in a safe, respectful environment.

As teenagers become more independent, it's also important to know that they may be able to access confidential healthcare when appropriate. If you or your teenager have questions about what this means, our doctors are happy to explain.

Every young person's health journey is different, and we're here to support them every step of the way

☀ Even when the weather feels cooler, UV levels in Queensland can remain high enough to damage your skin. Sun damage can occur year-round, not just during summer.

If you're spending time outdoors, it's important to protect your skin by wearing sunscreen, seeking shade, wearing protective clothing and a hat where possible.

Looking after your skin isn't just for beach days. Small habits can make a big difference to your long-term skin health.

If you have concerns about a changing spot or it's been a while since your last skin check, speak with your GP about whether a skin check is appropriate for you.

Have you checked your blood pressure lately?

High blood pressure often has no noticeable symptoms, which means many people may not realise it is elevated.

Over time, untreated high blood pressure can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and other health concerns. Regular checks are a simple but important part of looking after your long-term health.

Your GP can check your blood pressure, discuss any risk factors and provide advice on the next steps if needed.

If it has been a while since your last check, consider booking an appointment with your GP.

Medicare Assignment of Benefit Reminder

If you attend the practice for an appointment, you will be asked to complete a Medicare Assignment of Benefit after your consultation. Please remember to see our reception team before leaving the practice, even if your appointment has been bulk billed. This helps ensure your Medicare claim can be processed on the day and avoids you needing to return to the practice.

If you have a telephone consultation, you will receive an SMS from Medicare to digitally assign your Medicare benefit. Please complete this as soon as possible after your appointment so your Medicare claim can be finalised.

If you have any questions about the process, our friendly reception team is always happy to assist.

🔴 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BULK BILLING 🔴

MEDICARE UPDATES
From 1 July 2026, Medicare requires a Medicare Assignment of Benefit form to be signed for all bulk-billed appointments. This allows Medicare to pay the consultation rebate directly to your doctor on your behalf.

For in-clinic appointments, you may be asked to sign this before leaving the practice. Please ensure you see reception before you leave.

For phone appointments, Yeppoon Family Practice will send a secure SMS link so you can complete the form online.

Please note, genuine messages will come from Yeppoon Family Practice and we will never ask for banking details or passwords by text.
