Florence Coenraets Visual artist working with feathers as a primary material. Raw materials and the energy they carry are the starting point of her research. Moritz.

My practice explores our relationship with the living world through sculpture and feather-based works.I develop artworks, commissioned projects and collaborations across art, design and fashion. As a visual artist, Florence Coenraets engages with materials to explore our relationship with the world. For several years, she has worked with a unique material: feathers. Their aesthetic power immediately captivated her. Throughout her practice, feathers have continued to question and challenge her, opening each project onto new research. Since 2022, her sculptural mobiles and her “feather paintings” have been regularly presented by Spazio Nobile Gallery in Brussels, Paris, London and St. Her work has been exhibited at Centrale for Contemporary Art in Brussels, TAMAT in Tournai, the Volkenkunde Museum in Leiden and the Etnografiska Museet in Stockholm. Her work is commissioned, notably by Maison Natan in Brussels. She is also invited to serve on academic juries, including textile design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and landscape architecture at La Cambre-Horta. In 2013, she trained as a milliner and discovered feathers. In 2016, she further developed her expertise in traditional featherwork at the Académie des Métiers d’Art in Paris, incorporating its techniques and gestures into her artistic practice. She graduated in architecture and lives and works in Brussels.

Honored to be featured in the last issue of FAIRE Magazine, issue 14 !

Ruth Ribeaucourt, Editor-in-Chief, has done an amazing job, with great sensitivity and love, bringing together 11 portraits of creative people from around the world and exploring their desires, doubts, and journeys through art.

« Florence Coenraets is a Brussels-based artist whose feather sculptures inhabit the space between art, craft and ritual. Trained as an architect, she works with collected and hand-dyed feathers to create tactile, atmospheric works that explore balance, movement and the relationship between the tangible and unseen. »

Represented by Spazio Nobile , Brussels
