🔬 Kan je ook vooruitgaan na je 70ste? Absoluut.

🔬 Can people continue to improve after the age of 70? Absolutely.
A new study by researchers at Yale University challenges one of the most persistent misconceptions about ageing: growing older does not necessarily mean cognitive and functional decline.
In a cohort of more than 11,000 older adults with a mean age of 70 years, followed for an average of 8 years:
✅ 32% showed improvements in cognitive function.
✅ 28% improved their physical function, as measured by gait speed.
One particularly striking finding was that positive age beliefs were a significant predictor of belonging to this group that experienced improvement.
💡 Two key take-home messages:
1️⃣ Ageing is not synonymous with decline.
2️⃣A positive outlook on ageing may contribute to better cognitive and physical health.
At TRIGG, these findings strongly resonate with our mission. Through both our scientific research and our daily clinical practice—including our Muscle & Mobility Clinic—we are committed to promoting healthy ageing and challenging outdated stereotypes about growing older.

Background/Objectives: A widespread assumption exists among scientists, health care providers, and the public that later life is a time of inevitable and universal cognitive and physical decline. This assumption is likely due to considering older persons who improve to be exceptions, and the relianc...
