The blue skies and sunshine set a perfect scene the tenth Annual Sitewide Memorial and Butterfly Release events. The day began with the Annual Memorial where over 100 family, friends, and staff gathered to honour 162 members of our community who passed in the last year. Then 150 people gathered in the courtyard to release butterflies. You can see photos from the day here:

Each year, the Menno Place community comes together to celebrate the lives of our seniors through a beautiful butterfly release. It is a meaningful way to honour those who call Menno Place home, as well as those we remember with love.

You can be part of this special celebration by purchasing a butterfly on behalf of a senior in care.

A gift of $30 creates a magical moment—bringing joy, wonder, and connection to one of our seniors.

Menno Place's annual Butterfly Release is a much looked forward to event on our campus. It can be a time to honour and remember a loved one who is no longer with us, as well as a joyful time to share a special moment of beauty and wonder with residents, staff, families and friends.

Butterflies can be pre-purchased on our website for $30 each.

𝗢𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟱𝘁𝗵, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 and look ahead to what we are doing in the near future.

The open house was marked by an update in four specific areas - our strategic priorities - Christian Values, Home of Choice, Service Excellence, and People and Culture.

We were pleased to have 50 of our staff complete the event passport which shows that they received the update at each of the booths. These staff were entered in a draw to win an Amazon gift card. Congratulations to the winner - Milet from our Housekeeping and Laundry team!

We had many external stakeholders join us including community partners and a member of our Board and we thank them for coming. It was an encouraging time to see a strong representation across our organization, and throughout the Abbotsford community.

Thank you to the 193 donors and 41 Community Builder Companies who raised $135,000 to improve life for elderly seniors at Menno Place! We had a great time celebrating you this week at our Donor Appreciation Dinner! Your care and partnership is creating an even better experience for those living and working at Menno Place!

Happy Mother’s day from all of us at Menno Place! There are so many women who can act as mother figures in our lives – from our actual mothers, to step-moms, grandmothers, great grandmothers, god-mothers, aunties, close friends, friends' mothers, mothers-in-law, neighbours, sister-in-laws and many, many more! Today we celebrate all the women who have made positive impacts on our lives through the love and support they give.
