A New Chapter for Doing Family Right

After more than two decades of faithful leadership, Doing Family Right is entering a new season.

Dr. Dave Currie is stepping out of his role as Executive Director and into a new chapter of ministry. While he will continue to serve Doing Family Right as an advisor to our Lead Team, his counselling, life and spiritual coaching, speaking, writing, and new ministry initiatives will now continue independently through his personal ministry.

We are deeply grateful for the vision, leadership, and faithfulness that Dave and Donalyn have poured into Doing Family Right over the years. Because of their commitment, the ministry is well-positioned to continue serving individuals, couples, and families through professional counselling, life and spiritual coaching, workshops, and Christ-centred care.

Dave has also shared a heartfelt reflection on the journey that brought Doing Family Right to where it is today, along with his excitement for the future of the ministry.

To stay connected with Dr. Dave's personal ministry, including his counselling, speaking, books, and the new Leader Lift initiative, visit his new website drdavecurrie.com.

Thank you for being part of the Doing Family Right family. We look forward with hope to all that God has in store.

What actually happens during a Spriitual Coaching session?

For Merri Ellen, every session begins by simply checking in.

From there, she gently helps clients encounter the Lord through Scripture, prayer, and thoughtful conversation, creating space to hear His voice in the middle of life's challenges.

Each session closes with time to reflect on what God has revealed and how those truths can bring hope, clarity, and healing moving forward.

If you've been wondering whether coaching is right for you, we'd love to walk alongside you.

What makes someone feel emotionally safe?

Sometimes it's not the perfect words.

It's knowing someone is willing to sit with you, listen without judgment, and remind you that you don't have to carry life's challenges alone.

Emotional safety isn't built in one big moment, it grows through everyday choices. A parent who listens. A friend who stays. A spouse who seeks to understand before responding.

These moments of trust become the foundation for healthy relationships.

Who has helped you feel emotionally safe during a difficult season?

Take a moment today to thank them. You may never know how much their presence has meant.

Grief can be all-consuming.

When you're carrying a loss, it can feel like your grief is asking for your attention every moment of the day.

In this week's Counsellor's Corner, Rachelle Siemens shares why it's healthy to make space for both grief and life. Giving yourself permission to enjoy a walk, share a meal with loved ones, laugh, or engage in activities you normally enjoy isn't ignoring your grief, it's part of the healing process.

It's okay to pause, breathe, and be present with the people and moments that continue to bring life.

If you're navigating grief, we hope this encouragement reminds you to extend yourself the same grace you would offer someone you love.

Have you ever found yourself reacting in a way you couldn't quite explain?

Maybe a situation felt much bigger than it should have. Maybe the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships, your work, or your everyday life.

Sometimes, those reactions can be rooted in unresolved trauma.

In this week's reel, Anna Brotzel shares a few signs that unresolved trauma may be affecting you and why recognizing those patterns is often the first step toward healing.

Healing begins when we understand what's happening beneath the surface.

Life can be overwhelming. Relationships can be complicated. There are seasons when we wonder if we're doing enough or if things will ever get better.

The good news is that we don't have to have it all together.

Even in the middle of life's mess, there is hope. Healing begins when we take the first step.

Whatever season you're in today, know that you're not alone.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy approach that helps people process difficult memories and experiences that may still be impacting their lives today.

Sometimes painful events can become "stuck," continuing to affect how we think, feel, and respond long after they happen.

EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences in a way that reduces their emotional intensity and allows healing to take place.

Many people find EMDR helpful for trauma, anxiety, grief, phobias, and other distressing life experiences.

If you've been carrying the weight of the past and wondering whether counselling could help, EMDR may be worth exploring.

Doing Family Right didn't begin as a business plan. It began as a calling.

In this week's reel, Dr. Dave Currie shares the heart behind the founding of Doing Family Right and how he and Donalyn sensed God leading them to continue making a difference in marriages and families.

Starting something from nothing wasn't always easy, but they stepped forward in faith, trusting God's direction every step of the way.

For years, Dr. Dave has been passionate about helping people discover God's blueprint for marriage and family, believing that when we follow His design, our relationships can grow stronger, healthier, and more fulfilling.
