Did you know that we also care for and maintain roadside Memorials? Some families find comfort in a roadside memorial, so these are just as special to us. We maintain the grass around the memorial, plantings, rock features and even make a commemorative cross if you so choose. If a memorial is important to you, it's also important to us. Let's talk about Water staining and patience!

The first photo is the result of years of water staining build up. You could literally feel the build up!

The second photo is after 1 good scrub down cleaning. Yes it took some of the build up, but not much of the staining.

The last photo is the result 3 weeks later and having NEVER scrubbed it again!

I will likely scrub the last remaining pieces that are taking longer to help it along, but this is the result of what just even a little bit of care can do!

From Bonnechere Valley, to Cormac and then onto Shawville, today was a long but very productive day. It was also special. Today I honored my husband's Grandparents and Uncle, along with their baby daughter. ❤️ It means so much when I get the chance to honor our families!

We are off the Bonnechere Valley today to visit the Dacre Memorial Cemetery, and Saint Ann's Cemetery in Cormac! Then it's off to Shawville and Thorne Quebec! Busy Day!

It's a new week and what better way to start it then checking in on Louis and Catherine Laventure! Things are coming along nicely on this 1800's stone. As expected, the black on the top is taking some time to work through, and I expect that will take months. They will get another scrub down this week and then we wait some more!

Let's talk about Ground Stones. Ground Stones are sometimes the easiest way for someone to mark a loved one's resting place. Although they are supposed to sit flush with the ground, many things can affect them. Improper drainage is often the worst cause of growth and buildup on the stone. The ground can also sink and start to swallow them up!

Many times, we have had to bring the stone up, level it, and reset it flush again. This simple stone has tons of growth making a home in the letters. It takes tedious time to dig it all out before cleaning.

We recommend that if you are placing a ground stone as the primary marker on a site, you have an angled base constructed and the stone adhered to it at an angle to allow for runoff. It won't keep all of the elements away without proper maintenance, but it will keep the rain and some buildup from accumulating. If you already have a ground stone in place, you can still have the base done!
