The 2,300 staff, physicians and volunteers of the Brant Community Healthcare System are committed to patient safety and innovation. Brantford General is a 265 bed regional acute care health centre and the Willett, Paris is a multi-service health centre providing urgent care and community outreach programs. An accredited organization (Accreditation Canada), Brant Community Healthcare System is an affiliated teaching site of McMaster University Michael G. We are the recipient of the inaugural Ontario Practical Nurses Association Employer of the Year Award. Brant Community Healthcare System is known for its professionalism, considerable state-of-the-art medical technology and has been described as Ontario’s hidden jewel of health care.

Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is proud to receive the Provincial Eligible Approach Rate Award from Trillium Gift of Life Network for the second consecutive year! This award recognizes hospital partners who demonstrate leading practices by facilitating organ and tissue donation discussions with eligible patients and families at end of life.

During the 2025–26 fiscal year, BCHS supported:
đź’ś 2 organ donors, resulting in 5 organs transplanted and 4 lives saved
đź’ś 29 tissue donors, helping improve the lives of many recipients

BCHS achieved a 93% eligible approach rate, exceeding the 90% target set by Trillium Gift of Life Network.

This achievement reflects the generosity of donors and their families, along with the compassion and dedication of our healthcare teams who support patients and families through these important conversations.

We’re honoured to be part of an effort that gives the gift of life. Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible. 💜

đź’ˇ Sometimes, a great idea starts with a simple question: Is there a better way?

With a passion for learning and problem-solving, that question led Tammie Kovacs, Medical Laboratory Technologist, to create Core Lab Hub – a centralized tool designed to bring important information together in one place, helping support communication, continuity, and day-to-day workflows across the lab.

“In the lab, minutes are so precious,” she says. “I wanted to reduce the small interruptions that add to the cognitive load that comes with working in such a busy environment.”

When asked what our corporate value of Be Bold and Courageous means to her, she described it as having the confidence to speak up when you see an opportunity to make something better.

“If you have an idea, bring it forward,” she shares. “Don’t be afraid to speak up – you might have something really valuable to contribute to the whole system.”
