This week, I cried at work.
It wasn’t the first time, and I know it won’t be the last.
This career has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I’ve had the incredible honour of being the first to hear about the love story, the engagement, the pregnancy, the new beginnings, and all the magical moments that make life so beautiful.
I’ve also been trusted with the diagnosis, the loss, the betrayal, the heartbreak, the fear, the struggle — all the hard and heavy things that come with being human.
People have told me they hesitate to “download” onto me because they’re afraid I’ll take on their struggles.
In my line of work, we learn how to listen deeply, hold space, and be present without carrying someone else’s pain as our own. And honestly, it is an honour and a privilege to be a safe space for you.
My tears this week held so many things at once: love and loss, gratitude and grief, joy and devastation. A reminder of just how fragile, fleeting, precious, and finite this life is.
Sometimes it’s all beautifully, painfully, imperfectly intertwined.
So, thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your stories. For allowing me to walk alongside you through both the light and the dark.
It is a privilege I will never take for granted.
💛
