Opened on February 1,1961, Joseph Brant Hospital was erected on land owned by its namesake, Thyandenegea (Joseph Brant). Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a full-service community teaching hospital located in the growing and thriving community of Burlington, Ontario. The hospital serves residents from Burlington and surrounding cities of Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek. JBH

is one of Hamilton Niagara’s Top Employers for six consecutive years, with a skilled staff of 194 physicians, 852 nurses, 2,062 full- and part-time staff and more than 700 volunteers. JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus, including the state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, features an Emergency Department, 293 funded inpatient beds, and 9 Operating Rooms. JBH inspires and empowers a culture of caring and this is demonstrated in many ways including our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our people. The Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization founded in 1976. With the help of the community and corporate sponsors, it has raised over $40 million for the improvement of the hospital. Through fundraising initiatives, the Foundation works to assist JBH in its mission to provide compassionate quality health care. Through our events and fundraising initiatives, we strive to build and strengthen community relationships, rally support for our cause, and ultimately benefit the community at large by helping to improve the quality health care provided by Joseph Brant Hospital. There are many ways to get involved and make a difference. We invite you to be an active participant in our community and its health care. View our Terms of Use: tinyurl.com/484waeb7

Wishing a very happy retirement to Dr. Carey Eidlitz! 🥳

An exceptional anesthesiologist, mentor and cornerstone of the perioperative team, Dr. Eidlitz has worked at JBH for the last 35 years, including 10 years as Chief of Anesthesia.

His clinical excellence and unwavering commitment to patient care have earned him the deepest respect of his colleagues. He leaves us better health care providers and will be missed by all.

Special thanks to his OR colleagues for arranging celebratory shirts and surgical caps covered in his smiling face!

This National Nursing Week, we want to highlight our amazing Maternal Child Program nurses!

Together with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, midwives and respiratory therapists, nurses are committed to providing evidence-based developmental care such as kangaroo cuddles for babies.

When parents or caregivers hold their infants skin to skin (also known as Kangaroo Care), it becomes powerful medicine. For babies, it can stabilize heart and respiratory rates, regulate body temperature, promote weight gain and support brain development. For parents, it can regulate hormones, increase milk production, strengthen bonding and enhance confidence.

Today is also Kangaroo Care Day, meant to bring awareness, consistency and access to this healing practice. Thank you to our Maternal Child Program nurses and team for all you do to care for our babies!

Nurses are at the heart of compassionate, timely care—offering skill, comfort, and reassurance when it matters most.

This Nursing Week, honour a caregiver who’s made a difference in your life with a Gift of Gratitude donation in their name. Your support helps strengthen our frontline teams so they have the tools and training they need to care for our community.
