A new face at the front desk šŸ¤

We’re so excited to welcome Mariah to the Kirkyz team! She’ll be one of the friendly faces greeting you when you walk through our doors, helping keep things running smoothly and making our patients feel right at home.

We already feel so lucky to have her as part of the team, and we can’t wait for you to get to know her too.

Next time you’re in, make sure to say hi to Mariah! šŸ‘‹āœØ

Our Kirkyz family is growing by two tiny feet!

We’re SO excited to share that Morgan is expecting!

If you’ve been into the clinic, chances are you’ve been greeted by Morgan’s smile, helped by her at the front desk, or had your day made a little brighter by her. Now she’s getting ready for a whole new role, Mom.

We couldn’t be happier for Morgan and her growing family, and we’re so excited to watch this next chapter unfold.

So… when should you wear your hearing aids? šŸ‘€

The short answer: pretty much whenever you’re awake.

Hearing happens in your ears, but understanding sound is a job for your brain. Your brain is constantly receiving auditory information, sorting through it, deciding what matters and making sense of the world around you.

When hearing loss reduces access to certain sounds, your brain has less auditory information to work with. Hearing aids help restore access to those sounds, but your brain still has to get used to hearing and processing them again.

That’s one of the reasons consistent wear is so important.

Everyday sounds matter too - You may not consciously pay attention to all of them, but they’re part of the soundscape your brain is constantly processing.

Regular hearing aid use also gives your brain more opportunity to adapt to amplified sound. If you only put your hearing aids in for dinner out, meetings or other challenging situations, you’re asking your brain to suddenly perform in some of the hardest listening environments without as much practice in the easy ones.

Think of it less like turning up the volume when you need it and more like giving your auditory system consistent access to sound.

So yes - wear them to the grocery store. Wear them around the house. Wear them on your morning walk. Wear them when you’re doing absolutely nothing exciting. šŸ˜‚

Because hearing aids aren’t only for the moments you really need to hear.

Hearing aids have come a LONG way.

Today’s options can be incredibly small, discreet and designed to fit naturally into your everyday life. Some sit almost entirely inside the ear, while others tuck neatly behind it with barely-there components.

And the changes aren’t just cosmetic. Modern hearing aids can offer Bluetooth connectivity, rechargeable batteries, automatic adjustments for different listening environments, app controls and technology designed to make speech clearer and listening easier.

But here’s the important part: the smallest hearing aid isn’t automatically the best hearing aid.

Your hearing needs, ear anatomy, lifestyle, comfort, dexterity and the features you actually use all play a role in finding the right fit.

So if an old-school beige hearing aid is still the first thing that comes to mind… it might be time for an update. šŸ˜‰šŸ‘‚

Us watching you put a Q-tip INTO your ear canal: šŸ‘ļøšŸ‘„šŸ‘ļø

We know it feels like you’re cleaning your ears, but Q-tips can actually push earwax deeper into the canal, potentially causing buildup or impaction.

Your ears are pretty good at cleaning themselves - sometimes the best thing you can do is leave them alone. And if wax really is becoming a problem? Let a professional handle it.

Please. Our nervous systems can’t take this anymore.

Your hearing aids aren’t supposed to be a ā€œset it and forget itā€ kind of thing. šŸ‘‚

Sometimes voices sound too sharp. Background noise feels overwhelming. Your own voice sounds strange. Or something just feels… off.

That feedback is actually incredibly helpful.

Hearing aids can be fine-tuned across different frequencies, environments and listening needs — because the goal isn’t simply to make things louder. It’s to make sound feel clearer, more comfortable and more natural for YOU.

The right fit often comes from the little adjustments along the way.

Be nice to your wife, and take a vacation šŸ˜‚

But in all reality, a lot of things can temporarily change your hearing, and after time they can add up to a bigger problem.
Illness, medications, earwax buildup, loud noise exposure, changes in pressure and even stress or fatigue can all affect how you hear, sometimes more noticeably than you’d expect.

Some changes are temporary. Others deserve a closer look.

The important part? Pay attention when your hearing suddenly feels different. A noticeable change is always worth getting checked, especially if it happens quickly.

Your hearing can tell you a lot. Don’t ignore when it changes.

This or That: Hearing Edition!

Some of these choices are just personal preference. But others, like always using subtitles, preferring one-on-one conversations, or needing to listen to music loud, can sometimes be little ways we adapt to how we’re hearing without even realizing it.

No wrong answers here. šŸ˜‰ But if you noticed yourself choosing the ā€œeasier to hearā€ option every time, it might be worth getting curious about why.

Drop your strongest THIS or THAT opinion below šŸ‘‡

Your ears really said, ā€œI’ll take the night shift.ā€ šŸ‘‚šŸŒ™

Even while you sleep, your auditory system is still taking in information. Your brain simply becomes more selective about what’s worth responding to, which is why you can sleep through the hum of a fan but somehow wake up to your name being called.

Hearing is doing a whole lot more behind the scenes than we give it credit for.

The human auditory system is pretty incredible, don’t you think?
