👉 Come join us at our clinic for an amazing vestibular therapy hybrid course on November 7 & 8, 2026, held by Kregg from North 49 Physio.

The latest Consensus Statement on Concussion in Sport recommends cervicovestibular rehabilitation when dizziness, neck pain and/or headaches persist.

So here's a question worth asking:
What have you done to level up your vestibular assessment & treatment skills? 🧠

As concussion care continues to evolve, simply identifying that a patient has "vestibular symptoms" isn't enough. We need the clinical skills to investigate them.

Come join us this November for our Vestibular Therapy Foundations Course for Health Care Providers.

We'll build the practical assessment and treatment skills you can take back to the clinic and start using with your patients.

Getting back to a walk around the block. Reaching a shelf without thinking twice. Sleeping through the night without waking up to shift positions.

Recovery rarely announces itself with one big moment — it shows up in these small, easy-to-miss wins along the way.

If there's a small win you've had recently, however small it feels, we'd love to hear about it in the comments.

You don't have to be a serious hiker to want to actually enjoy the trail instead of limping back to the car. 🥾

A few things worth checking before you head out, even for a casual hike:

→ Footwear that's actually broken in — not brand new out of the box
→ A few minutes to warm up before you start climbing
→ A pace you can hold a conversation at, especially early on
→ Water and a snack, even for a "short" hike — Alberta trails take longer than they look on the map

None of this guarantees a pain-free hike. But it stacks the odds in your favour, and it's a lot easier than dealing with a sore knee for the rest of the week.

If something's already nagging at you before you even hit the trailhead, that's worth a look before you load a full day on it.

Reaching for something on a high shelf shouldn't make you wince.

If overhead movement — grabbing a mug from the top cupboard, hanging a picture, pulling on a jacket — brings on a catch, pinch, or ache in your shoulder, it's often a sign your rotator cuff and shoulder blade aren't sharing the work the way they should.

It's easy to write off as "just getting older" or "sleeping on it wrong." Sometimes that's all it is. Sometimes it's the early sign of something worth having looked at, before it limits more than reaching for the top shelf.

If this sounds familiar, a physiotherapy assessment can help you understand what's actually going on and what to do about it.

"Should I rest it or move it?" is one of the most common questions we get — and the honest answer is: it depends.

Total rest can let stiffness set in. Pushing through pain can aggravate things further. The right amount of movement is specific to the injury, and it usually changes as healing progresses.

If you're stuck guessing between the two, that's exactly the kind of thing a physiotherapy assessment is built to answer — a clear plan instead of trial and error.

New school year, new shoes, and for some kids (and parents), it's worth asking whether custom orthotics belong on that shopping list too.

Growing feet, sports tryouts starting back up, and full days on hard school floors can bring out foot or leg discomfort that wasn't as noticeable over summer.

An orthotic assessment isn't only for pain that's already there, it's a chance to see how your child's feet are functioning and whether extra support would help as the year gets going.

Curious if it's worth a look? We're happy to talk it through.

A long day — whether it was spent on a trail or in a chair — leaves tension somewhere.

A few minutes of light stretching in the evening can help unwind it. Even a short routine, five minutes or so, can ease stiffness that's built up over the day. And winding down with some gentle stretching before bed tends to make it easier to settle in for a lot of people.

Whatever's is feeling tight — neck, lower back, somewhere else — send us a message and we'll point you toward a few stretches that fit. Or look back through our previous stretching videos for a head start.

This is general evening movement, not a treatment plan — if something needs more than just a stretch, it's worth having a physiotherapist take a look.

Back-to-school season is exciting for the kids and, if we're honest, exhausting for the parents managing all of it.

Massage therapy and acupuncture are two options worth considering if stress has been building up in your shoulders, neck, or sleep. Both are aimed at helping your body manage tension — not a cure-all — but for a lot of people, carving out that hour makes a real difference in how the rest of the week feels.

If it's been a while since you've had a moment for yourself, now is the time!
