🍎 Teachers: Your Body Works Hard Too!

Teaching is a demanding job—and it’s not just your mind doing the work.

Throughout the school day, teachers often spend long hours:
🧍 Standing in the classroom
🪑 Sitting at a desk
📚 Looking down while grading papers
💻 Working at a computer

These repetitive positions can contribute to neck, shoulder, back, and wrist tension, especially when there isn’t much opportunity to move throughout the day.

A few simple habits can help:
✔️ Change positions regularly
✔️ Take short movement breaks when possible
✔️ Adjust your workstation for better ergonomics
✔️ Bring screens and reading materials closer to eye level
✔️ Make time for regular exercise and recovery

You spend your days taking care of your students. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, too.

Breathing isn't just about getting oxygen—it's an essential part of how your body moves, stabilizes, and recovers.

When we're stressed, in pain, or spending long hours at a desk, we often shift to shallow chest breathing.
Over time, this can contribute to:
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Increased muscle tightness
• Poor posture
• Reduced core stability
• Feeling fatigued or short of breath during activity

A physiotherapist can assess your breathing patterns and help you improve how your diaphragm, rib cage, and core work together.

Better breathing can support:
✔ Improved posture
✔ More efficient movement
✔ Better core control
✔ Reduced muscle tension
✔ Enhanced exercise performance

Sometimes, one of the most important movements you can improve is the one you do over 20,000 times a day—your breath.

Don’t Wait Until You’re in Pain

Back to work and school often means getting back into routines that can put extra stress on your body:
🚗 Longer commutes
💻 More sitting
😓 More stress
🏃 Less movement

You don’t have to wait until discomfort becomes a problem to start taking care of yourself.
Preventative care and healthy daily habits can help you stay mobile, balanced, and feeling your best throughout the semester.

Take a few minutes each day to move, stretch, change positions, and check in with your body.

Your body doesn’t have to hurt before it deserves attention.

📚 Back-to-School Reminder: Check Your Posture!

Students spend hours each day on laptops, tablets, and phones.
All that screen time can make it easy to fall into poor posture, which may contribute to:
• Neck pain
• Headaches
• Shoulder tension
• Fatigue

The good news? Small posture changes can make a big difference. 🙌

Encourage your student to sit with their feet supported, keep their screen at a comfortable height, take regular movement breaks, and change positions throughout the day.

Move often. Sit well. Study comfortably.

Stress often shows up as tight shoulders, a stiff neck, and shallow breathing.

Massage therapy can help release muscle tension, improve rib cage mobility, and promote relaxation—making it easier to take a full, comfortable breath.

🫁 Relax. Breathe. Recover.

Why do headaches seem to happen more often?

If you’ve noticed more headaches lately, your daily habits could be playing a role.

Some common contributors include:
📱 Increased screen time — prolonged screen use can contribute to eye strain and tension.
😵‍💫 Stress — physical and emotional stress can lead to muscle tension and trigger headaches.
🎒 Heavy backpacks — extra weight can strain the neck and shoulders, especially when carried improperly.
🧍 Poor posture — hours spent looking down or sitting in one position can create tension through the neck and upper back.
💧 Dehydration — not drinking enough fluids can also contribute to headaches.

The good news? Small changes to your daily routine may help reduce some of these triggers.
But if headaches are persistent, frequent, worsening, or interfering with daily life, they deserve an assessment. Don’t just keep pushing through them.

Did you know your posture can affect how you breathe? 🫁

When your body is well supported and moving efficiently, breathing can feel easier too. While breathing issues can have many causes, improving posture, reducing muscle tension, and restoring comfortable movement may all play a role in helping you breathe more efficiently.

Take a deep breath—and give your body the foundation it needs to move and function at its best.

⛳ Your best golf accessory isn't a new driver—it's a body that moves well.

A healthy spine and good mobility can help you rotate more efficiently, reduce strain, and keep you feeling your best on and off the course.

Don't let pain become part of your game.
