Nourishing a woman’s body is different. And so is nourishing a Mother’s.

When we feed our family we don’t just fuel their body, we nourish their potential, their resilience, and the people they will become.

When our kids fill their bellies we are satisfied as if we have just fed ourselves.

I can still taste my Mom’s seven layer dinner, the special chopped veggie salads she would make me, and the chats we would share over tea and toast.

Now, I understand these meals and moments nourished her as much as they nourished me.

Let this be a gentle reminder to take care of yourself, today and everyday, with good food, rest, and warm connections with the women who have nourished you along the way.

Happy Mothers Day 💕 Miss you Momma.

Some might say this endeavour was a bit of a waste….I mean, I can buy a litre of maple syrup for less than what it cost me to make it.

And maybe that’s true.

But it was also so much fun.

We tend to put a lot of emphasis on results, and forget that it’s often the process that nourishes us.

I haven’t nerded out like that in a long time, and that tells me it was worth doing.

It tells me I was doing something that mattered to me. And when you tap into what you value, it stops being about the outcome.

You can actually enjoy the process, regardless of how it turns out.

And for the record—I didn’t do it perfectly.

I think I started a little too early, put some taps in backwards 🤦‍♀️, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t boil it long enough.

But mistakes don’t determine whether we succeed, our willingness to learn, adjust, and keep going does.

In the end, we still enjoyed our slightly runny maple syrup on homemade sourdough waffles… and I even maple’d our bacon! 🥓

Nourishing yourself isn’t just about food.

So get curious, find what lights you up, and do it because you want to!

That’s reason enough.

I’ve been making sourdough for 5 years.
Trust me, it’s not as complicated as it looks.

True, it’s a process. But a forgiving one. 😉
And even with all my oopsies, the bread always seems to work out.

If you’re thinking about getting started. DO IT!!!!

It’s one of the most rewarding kitchen skills I’ve learned. The health benefits are just a bonus!

It can be tricky to prioritize our own nutrition when cooking for a family.

Sometimes, what we need comes second to what’s possible to fit in, and still provides decent nutrition for the fam (given what they will eat without too much protest!😩)…

Can you relate? 🙋‍♀️

I just had the BEST kitchen sesh with a client navigating exactly that!

There was homework, and dishes to clean up…but look at all we accomplished! Tasty family meals for the week, freezer meals, additional lunches for her, and tips for modifying the meals for her specific dietary needs. Everybody wins.

🍠 Greek Super Fries
🫶Crispy Tofu
🍚 Lebanese Lentil & Rice Bowls
🌮Sheet Pan Fajitas
🥘Slow Cooker Curry Chicken Stew

After all our sit down conversations we got to put on our aprons, and actually put it on the plate.

Even with all you do in a week it is still possible to take care of yourself, too. And that’s exactly what I’m here to help you do❤️
