Stairs down shouldn’t be the hardest part of your day.

For many with knee pain, especially around the kneecap, descending stairs is where symptoms show up most. The quadriceps muscles act like a brake as you lower yourself, increasing strain on the knee.

Following arthroscopic surgery on her knee, Tenaya stuck to her rehabilitation protocol strictly. She delicately balanced rest and exercise to rebuild the strength in her leg. No matter what she did, she couldn't get her swelling down to a level where she could play pickleball in the way that SHE wanted.

Tenaya's story is all too common. Knee pain from osteoarthritis prevents millions of people from doing more of the activities that bring them joy and strip them of their autonomy. However, they either aren't yet a candidate for knee replacement, they can't afford it or they want to do everything that can to delay it. Knee osteoarthritis patients need a bridge.

We're so proud of Deanna! She's a fiercely dedicated runner, engineer, and teammate.
