What you see isn’t always safe. Check beach advisories before you swim. 🏊

To stay safe:

- Avoid swimming if the water looks murky or after heavy rain
- Don’t swallow beach water
- Stay out of the water if you have cuts or feel unwell
- Shower and wash hands after swimming

A single measles case has been confirmed in the Greater Nanaimo region.

We are following up directly with people who have been exposed. The risk to the public remains low.

You may have been exposed to measles if you were at one of these locations on July 12, 2026:

- Woodgrove Centre (12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m) Specifically Lululemon, Booster Juice and SportChek. If you were not in one of these specific stores during the time noted, the risk to you is extremely low.
- Beban Park Golf Course, indoor check in area (10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.)

If you may have been exposed and have not been vaccinated against measles or are unsure, are immunocompromised, have an exposed child under one year of age, or are pregnant, please call 250-519-3575.

You are not alone, and what happened is not your fault. After sexual assault or intimate partner violence, even basic needs can feel overwhelming.

Comfort kits help provide clothing, toiletries and food support during a difficult time.

Forensic nurse examiners provide care and support. Survivors can choose medical care with or without an exam, and can decide whether or not to involve police.

Thank you to We're Here For You Canada for donating the kits.
