An open letter to you our brother & sister💛

To the person who thinks they've messed up too badly

I've seen people walk through our doors who had lost their kids, their home, their career, their health, and their will.

I've watched those same people, months later, get their kids back. Get promoted. Buy their first bed in years. Laugh again. Actually laugh.

You are not the worst thing you've ever done.
You are not the sum of your worst years.
You are a person with a story that isn't finished yet.

The mess you're in? We've seen worse. We've seen it turn around.

Come to Edmonton. Come to 8 Pillars.
We will walk the journey with you.

With love & everything,
The 8 Pillars Family 💙

Another wonderful testimonial from one of our guest!!!!

8 Pillars has helped me in so many ways. From struggling with alcohol, nothing had worked for me, and I felt lost and had no direction on how to make my recovery journey long-lasting. After many treatment centers and relapses, this program is the only thing that has helped me. Almost a year sober now, Steve and Kerry hold you accountable for your recovery. The staff are amazing; they give you their own personal insights into what it takes to stay sober. The people you live with are all on a similar journey in the fact that everyone there is trying to improve their lives, and it is a very supportive environment. I'd recommend this program to anyone who has struggled with addiction because it changed my life.

This shows you can achieve staying sober if you choose to, takes discipline, commitment, values and morals...

5 things people get WRONG about sober living 👇

1️⃣ It's just for people who've lost everything
→ WRONG. It's for anyone who knows they need structure to win.

2️⃣ You can't have a life, it's all rules
→ WRONG. You work. You date. You grow. The structure SUPPORTS your life.

3️⃣ It's shameful to need this
→ WRONG. Moving into 8 Pillars is one of the most courageous things a person can do.

4️⃣ You'll be stuck with strangers
→ WRONG. You'll meet the most real humans you've ever known.

5️⃣ It doesn't actually work
→ WRONG. The research and our residents prove otherwise every single day.

Edmonton, stop believing the myths. Start believing in what's possible.

SHORT SUCCESS STORY. LONG POST!!!!!
Hello my name is Crystal Ducharme. I am 2 years and 2 months sober and 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation was a part of my recovery journey.
I started drinking at the age of 13 and not just a weekend drinker I was a blackout drunk that caused s**t shows where ever I ended up partying .
I then grew up and got married but still I drank alcohol on a regular basis like as soon as the clock struck 12:01 pm I would start till I passed out which led to a 15 pack a day pretty much .
I later got divorced because of the actions of my drinking. My drinking caused me to do things a normal person would not do . I cheated on my husband . Not blaming alcohol but the actions I chose to do that came from when I drank.
I later was in a mentally abusive relationship that caused me to get deeper into my drinking and then eventually lead me to the world of drugs...
At first I was just a weekend user for drugs but then eventually it became an everyday hassle of getting loans to pay for my habit at many places at once .
I eventually left that relationship and got sober from drugs but not alcohol . I learned how to drink social for a while and became a little better to deal with . (I thought so but apparently not so much)
Let's move to 2020 in the COVID era I lost 4 people in a 3 month period and didn't understand how to deal with grief . I got back into drugs heavily again . This went on until February 2024 .
In that 4 year period I lost my kids my home my dignity and my mind most of all . I was in and out of hospital and psych units and finally wanted to give up on my life more than once .
So after I had nothing left to lose I decided that being on opioids was not the way I wanted to die and leave my kids to remember me by.
I wanted to get my life back . So I got my best friend who got paid by my dealer to drive me up to my appointment at Poundmakers Lodge for rehab. I made it there high as a kite for the last time .
I lived at Poundmakers for 6 months after that I needed more support for my sobriety to make sure I would stay sober . I found 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation online and right away I filled out the online application and not even 10 minutes later I got a call back from a worker at 8 pillars . They explained how they worked and it was what I was looking for so I moved in the next day .
I lived at 8 Pillars for 10 months and I loved every bit of it. I went to meetings and did their program and became the House Mentor and monitored the clients to make sure everyone had a safe environment to live in.
I would recommend 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation to anyone who needed a safe place to finish their recovery journey from rehab or even if you didn't do rehab. Both faithfully and honestly . They were a major help and I love the staff for being as amazing as they were to me and the rest of the clients period.
