The next chapter of MIC’s story was defined by transformation.
Following its foundational decade, MIC entered a period of rapid technological change, operational growth, and clinical expansion across Edmonton.
From the transition from physical film and paper records to fully digital imaging, to the opening of Century Park as MIC’s first fully digital clinic, the organization began building the digital infrastructure that would shape its future.
This decade also brought new specialized services, including expanded breast imaging and CT capabilities, and the launch of VIRNA.
Behind every technological milestone were people adapting, innovating, and finding better ways to care for patients. Booking moved from binders and pencils to a centralized department. Dictation evolved from cassette tapes to real-time voice recognition. Digital reporting helped referring physicians receive critical information faster.
And as MIC grew, so did its connection to the Edmonton community through partnerships with local sports organizations and humanitarian initiatives.
Between 2006 and 2016, MIC grew from 68 to nearly 80 partners while laying the digital foundation for the next generation of diagnostic imaging in Alberta.
This is the story of the people, technology, and ideas that helped move MIC forward.
