Philosophy
Vonalee R.Ac studied at the Calgary College of TCM and Acupuncture (CCTCMA) in Calgary, Alberta and has practiced Acupuncture in Alberta and New Brunswick before moving to Ontario. Vonalee treats various conditions, from sports medicine to labor induction, and has special interest in women’s health, digestive issues and cancer support. Her 11 years of experience includes serving as an e

xaminer at the Alberta provincial licensing exam for acupuncturists from 2015-2019, as well as serving on the Conduct and Competency Committee (CCC) for the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA). Vonalee’s Acupuncture treatments extend beyond the treatment room with herbal formulas, dietary advice and change in lifestyle suggestions. Acupuncture is a preventative form of medicine, and she enjoys empowering people with the knowledge to maintain their health on their own, after treatment. If you need to sleep with a fan in hot weather, just be sure that its not blowing right on you. That way you'll avoid seized muscles, and the inability to shoulder-check the next time you're drive.

Why is it important to see your acupuncturist or massage therapist regularly? Because we often see things you can't, on the back of the body, shoulders or legs.

In this instance, my patient had noticed a pimple which she mentioned in passing. I took a look and knew something wasn't right and recommended she see her GP. Sure enough, a biopsy was done and it turned put to be Squamous cell carcinoma (she'll be fine, it was in clean margins and they assured her all of it was taken out).

So. A gentle reminder that skin cancers can develop fast, so keep an eye on your skin and, of course, see your acupuncturist! Stay safe out there.
