Why was Taylor’s Meadow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Guelph named after a man who is still alive? So he could be part of it. 🌿

Rebecca Kit, the GM at Woodlawn, put it simply:

“All too often, I feel like we recognize people after they’ve died. Why don’t we recognize them while they’re still here?”

When Ashes to Earth® was installed in the scattering garden for the green burial area, the community noticed. Before opening day, one member came in to share that she’d already decided where she wanted her ashes: right there, in that garden.

She wasn’t alone. Many families have since pre-purchased their scattering rights in the Taylor’s Meadow garden—and are already visiting regularly. Making the garden a meaningful place before anyone was laid to rest there.

This is what living memorials make possible, comfort and connection for the full circle of life. A place that becomes part of the story, not just the ending.

We’re back from three days at Ontario’s largest conference for funeral and cemetery professionals. 🌿

We met funeral directors who are navigating families’ changing expectations, cemetery operators who are rethinking what their land can offer, and bereavement practitioners who stayed at our booth long after the scheduled events.

This profession is changing. The people in that room are working to adapt to what modern families need, and building practices that meet them there: more personalization, more nature-based options, more ways to stay connected after the traditional services.

If you’ve ever felt like the usual options don’t really fit what you’re looking for… that gap is exactly what these professionals are working to fix.

For everyone who finds Thanksgiving a little harder this year, you’re not alone. 🍂

Grief doesn’t follow a calendar. It shows up at family dinners. At empty chairs. In the quiet when you realize you’re reaching for your phone to text someone who isn’t there to answer.

You’re allowed to feel all of it.

If you’re honouring someone this weekend, whether at a table or somewhere quieter, whether with family or on your own, we’re glad you’re here.
