The Conversations Don’t End at the Conference…

One of the biggest messages we heard at this year’s Beyond the Label Conference was:

💬 “We need more spaces like this.”

So we listened.

DiversX is excited to announce a series of FREE community events, workshops, trainings, and support spaces designed to continue the conversations around neurodiversity, inclusion, regulation, universal design, and community care.

These events were directly inspired by the discussions, feedback, and requests shared at this year’s conference.

WOW. What an incredible day (warning long but necessary post 💙)

As we reflect on the 3rd Annual Beyond the Label Conference, we are feeling deeply grateful for the overwhelming support, connection, vulnerability, learning, and community that filled the room.

One of the most meaningful pieces of feedback we received over and over again was:

💬 “I can’t wait for next year.”

That alone reminds us why this work matters.

This conference was built on the belief that inclusion is not about asking people to fit into systems that were never designed for them — it’s about creating schools, workplaces, healthcare systems, and communities where all people can belong, participate, and thrive.

Together, we explored topics across the neurodiversity umbrella including:
🧠 ADHD
🧠 FASD
🧠 Brain Injury
🧠 Trauma & Nervous System Regulation
🧠 Relational Care & Universal Design

We heard powerful lived experiences, learned practical strategies, engaged in difficult but important conversations, and witnessed so much compassion and openness throughout the day.

One of the most powerful parts of the conference was watching each speaker reflect the mission of DiversX in their own unique way. Although every presentation came from different professional and lived experiences, there was a shared message woven throughout the day:

✨ People thrive when environments, systems, and communities are built with humanity, flexibility, connection, and belonging in mind.

As organizers, it was incredibly moving to witness how naturally these conversations connected together. It reminded us that we are building something meaningful as a community — together.

Another major theme that emerged throughout the day was the impact of the “silo effect.” Across education, healthcare, mental health, community services, workplaces, and support systems, many speakers reflected on how disconnected systems can unintentionally create additional barriers for neurodivergent individuals and families.

Again and again, we came back to the idea that true support cannot happen in isolation.

We need to move away from rigid systems operating separately in competition, control, or hierarchy — and instead move toward collaboration, communication, and shared care.

At DiversX, we believe in breaking down those walls and reaching across sectors to create a more connected, circular model of support — a true circle of care around individuals, families, and communities navigating barriers.

That is what DiversX is about.
That is what our trainings are about.
And that is the work we hope to continue building alongside this community.

To every attendee who:
✔ showed up with curiosity
✔ shared your experiences
✔ participated in discussions and immersive activities
✔ supported our speakers with kindness and encouragement
✔ took time out of your busy lives to be part of this community

THANK YOU.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible speakers, and body break facilitators for sharing your wisdom, creativity, vulnerability, and lived experience so generously. Your voices are helping shift conversations from awareness into action.

We also want to extend huge gratitude to:

🤝 Municipality of North Grenville
for believing in this vision and helping make this event accessible to the community.

☕ Brewed Awakenings Kemptville
for helping keep everyone fueled and connected throughout the day.

🎥 Our amazing video/media team Sx2 Productions Inc.
for capturing the heart of this event and helping us continue these conversations beyond the conference walls.

🛍 Our vendors & community resource tables
for creating opportunities for connection, support, advocacy, and showcasing neurodivergent-led businesses and services.

The feedback this year reminded us that people are craving spaces like this — spaces where lived experience is centered, systems are questioned, and meaningful change feels possible.

This is more than a conference.
It’s a growing movement toward neuro-inclusive communities built on equity, flexibility, accessibility, and belonging.

And based on your feedback…
Beyond the Label will absolutely be back. 💙

PS. See next post for upcoming FREE events we promised to deliver during the conference.

PRIDE Month, in honour of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, is about protest, activism, a call to action + actual action, education - learning + unlearning, resistance + response, understanding q***r history - the struggles, progress + recent years of increased hatred + bigotry, and recognizing q***r contributions to society. ❤️

YOU are NOT an ally or a safe person, service, business, online group, etc. if YOU remain silent, inactive, support bigots, promote hate or silence, or do not actively use specific "inclusive" language. Inclusion is an ACTION!

Every June we also celebrate PRIDE Month to honour the courage, resilience, and humanity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

As PRIDE flags rise, let them rise with our voices, our solidarity, and our shared values of respect for differences, authenticity, safety for all, freedom, love, joy, kindness and unity. All humans matter! ❤️

NOW is the time to uplift voices, promote inclusivity, and advocate for acceptance and human rights! ❤️

This past Saturday, DiversX hosted the 2nd Annual - Beyond the Label Conference — and we’re still feeling all the feels. 💛

A full day of learning, unlearning, laughing, crying, connecting, and most importantly: belonging.

Our theme this year was about moving beyond inclusion — beyond the checkbox, beyond accommodations. We explored what it really means to integrate neurodiverse perspectives, tools, and designs into our schools, workplaces, and communities — so people don’t have to ask for their needs to be met.

It was powerful. Emotional. Eye-opening. For many attendees, it was the first time they felt truly seen, understood, and supported on their neurodiverse journey.

I needed a few days to fully process the speakers, activities, stories, and moments of deep connection — but one thing is clear: this community we’re building is nothing short of incredible. We’re co-creating a future rooted in trust, safety, and universal design for all brains.

To the neuro crew — our beautiful team of four neurospicy volunteers — thank you from the bottom of my heart. We pulled this off with passion, purpose, and a vision for something better. You are the heart of this movement. 💚

And to everyone who attended, shared, laughed, cried, or even just sat with a new perspective — thank you. The work continues. This is just the beginning.
