Kenon Builders is a relatively new Inclusive Employer. Brian Kraynyk and his crew have collaborated with KACL Employment Services since October 2025 in creating meaningful opportunities for employees to grow and succeed. We look forward to years of working together and continuing a great partnership.

Since the spring of 2025, Lake of the Woods Marina has proven to be an outstanding Inclusive Employer. The Marina has created a workplace culture where employees feel supported, develop new skills, and are provided opportunities to expand their role.

Thanks to both these Inclusive Employers for their continued commitment to inclusivity in our community. 🏆

With summer coming to an end, we wanted to take a special look back on one of its brightest moments: Kenora's World Series, which took place on Saturday, May 30th at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre ball diamonds.

Months later, we are still blown away by the response from the community and all of the magic we were able to make together. For those who missed out, we proudly welcomed people from all walks of life, and people of all abilities to celebrate each other's gifts on the same teams, on the same field, to send the same message: together we are better.

The match ended up finishing as an 18-18 tie game between Team Community and Team Living, but more importantly, were were able to make countless memories and even more smiles.

We remain deeply grateful for everyone who helped us in one way or another, including Triple PLAY Kenora, Taggs Source for Sports, Kenora Safeway, the Ontario Provincial Police, the City of Kenora, Kenora GM/Honda/Dodge, Arcade Zilinksi, Tony Tunes, 101.3 The Gap, Jake on the Lake, KimDoes807, Jo-Hannah Atchison, Elder Don Kelly, and Ogichidaa drummers Steve Fisher, Jason Williamson, Terry Parisien, and Freeman White.

Last but not least, we would also like to thank Upriver Media Inc. for joining us to capture every moment and producing this wonderful video so that we can relive the wonder over and over again.

The first day of school is a BIG day! Even when a child has had a positive experience, all of the new people, routines, expectations, sounds and emotions can be a lot to take in. When they get home, they may be excited to tell you everything... or they may be completely done talking and that's okay! Your child doesn't have to love every minute of school for it to be a successful first day. Give them time, patience and plenty of opportunities to come back to their safe place and recharge. The transition takes time. One day at a time.

Earlier in the week, KACL held its 9th Annual Heart Garden Ceremony, which our staff participate in to reflect on reconciliation and honour the legacy of the children, youth and families impacted by the Residential School System.

This year, our ceremony was led by Elder Dolores Kelly, who walked our staff through the day’s remembrance with a traditional teaching before leading everyone into a smudge. Afterwards, our staff and some of the children from our Kids’ Zone program planted hearts with messages speaking to healing the past and a more hopeful future.

Each year, the ceremony takes place among milkweed plants, the leaves of which lend themselves to monarch butterflies, which we understand as representing both the possibility of transformation over time, and especially when we gather, the interconnectedness of All Our Relations.

Since 2019, Sweet has worked closely with KACL Employment Services to find creative ways of ensuring their team could continue to work even when the world shutdown due to COVID-19. That same dedication and commitment to their team has lasted because at Sweet, you’re treated as part of the family 🍫

For years, Wholesale Club has had an open-door relationship with KACL Employment Services, connecting some people with their first job and some people with their forever job. Their team promotes a workplace that supports independence, kindness and inclusion, making it a pleasure to continually connect with them to find new opportunities for the people we support. 🍎
