Grief is hard to grasp but the more we understand, the better we can heal.

Attending a funeral reminds us of our mortality. It reminds us that we will all pass away and we need to live our lives well.
Psalm 90:12
"Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."

I was recently on a podcast discussing grief and the host mentioned this quote. It really resonated with me in. I know it does with so many others... See podcast link below.
A mother and blogger named Jamie Anderson - "Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give but cannot give. The more you loved someone, the more you grieve. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes and in that part of your chest that gets empty and hollow feeling. The happiness of love turns to sadness when unspent. Grief is just love with no place to go."

The quote was originally written in March 2014 on her personal blog, All My Loose Ends. The original context of the quote details the double heartbreak of losing her mother and subsequently caring for her late mother's aging dog.

When we are wounded from a loss, many times we go into "shock".
It's important to remember to breathe.

Try the 4β€’4β€’4β€’4 method.

β€’ Breathe in for 4 seconds
β€’ Hold it for 4 seconds
β€’ Breathe out for 4 seconds
β€’ Hold for 4 seconds.

Repeat 6-8 times to relax yourself

As a Funeral Director, I have a "front row seat" to the grief families face after death.

Sadly there's so much additional grief caused by broken relationships.

This verse causes me to reflect on the way I'm living today.

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4 NLT
[2] Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties. After all, everyone diesβ€” so the living should take this to heart. [3] Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us. [4] A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time.
