Sporting a pair of our disposable sunglasses afterwards, here is a special visitor who experienced her first dilated eye exam. Dilating drops are often used to explore the power of the eye and potential need for eyeglasses in children. Eye exams are recommended for all children typically starting at 6months of age and yearly thereafter. Notably, the Ontario Association of Optometrists Eye See Eye Learn program provides a free pair of glasses to children in JK/SK who need them.

Doc…I’m seeing spots!

Design based on the Ishihara colour vision test:

✨ this test is one of the most common ways to check for color blindness. It uses plates filled with colorful dots that form hidden numbers or patterns—what you see (or don’t see!) can reveal how your eyes distinguish colors. 🌈🔍

Did you know? Babies love mirrors — and it’s more than just adorable! Watching their reflection helps little ones develop visual focus and self-awareness and is a sign of cognitive growth. The milestone of recognizing self can occur between the ages of 15-24 months. At your next pediatric eye exam, we’ll make sure those curious eyes are developing just right! 🪞👁️ Recommended routine Eye examinations start at 6months of age (and sooner if there are concerns).

We caught this adorable visitor in the clinic today catching his reflection!
