Today we're celebrating our amazing Office Manager, Melanie Shaw! 💙🧡

Melanie is the person who helps keep our clinic running smoothly each and every day. From supporting our team to making sure our patients have a great experience, she handles it all with professionalism, a smile on her face, and a fantastic sense of humour - no matter how busy the day gets.

Her positive attitude, kindness, and ability to keep everything organized make her such an important part of our team. We truly are so lucky to have her as part of the Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance family, and we're incredibly grateful for everything she does.

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday, Dr. Taylor Speirs! 🎂🎉

Today we're celebrating a very special member of the Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance team!

It's hard to believe that Taylor has only been with us since March. In such a short time, she has become an incredibly valued part of our clinic, fitting in seamlessly with both our team and the patients we have the privilege of caring for every day.

Taylor's clinical expertise, compassionate approach, infectious sense of humour, and upbeat personality make her a joy to work with. She has a way of making patients feel comfortable while bringing energy and laughter to the clinic each day. It's hard to imagine our team without her, and we truly feel fortunate to have her as part of the Wadden family. 💙🧡

🎉 Congratulations to Keagan Cooke – Recipient of the 2026 Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance Sydney Academy Scholarship! 🎉

Each year, this scholarship recognizes a graduating Sydney Academy student who is committed to pursuing a career in the health professions while demonstrating the importance of health, wellness, and an active lifestyle.

Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance is honoured to provide the scholarship criteria, with the recipient selected by the Sydney Academy Scholarship Committee.

This September, Keagan will be attending the University of Western Ontario, where he has been accepted into the Medical Sciences program.

Congratulations once again, Keagan! We wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter! 💙🧡

A little update from the new clinic!

We're excited to share that the new Wadden Physiotherapy & Sport Performance clinic is really starting to take shape!

A few members of the Wadden team dropped by the worksite a few weeks ago to check out the progress, and it's amazing to see how much has changed. The parking lot is now paved, and the exterior on the back side of the building has since been completed. It's becoming easier and easier to picture welcoming everyone through the doors very soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been working tirelessly to bring this vision to life. We truly appreciate the hard work, long hours, and craftsmanship that are making this project possible.

We've also had lots of people asking where the new clinic will be located. We will be proud new residents of Kenikala Crescent in Membertou. Kenikala Crescent is the new street in the Seventh Exchange development (still in Membertou), just down from Green Diamond Equipment (see the map below!).

We're so excited to become part of this growing area and can't wait to welcome both familiar and new faces into our new home this fall (maybe sooner 🤞🏼)!

🎉 Congratulations to Ella Barry - Recipient of the 2026 Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance Riverview Scholarship! 🎉

Each year, this scholarship recognizes a graduating Riverview student who is committed to pursuing a career in the health professions while demonstrating the importance of health, wellness, and an active lifestyle. Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance was honoured to provide the scholarship criteria, with the recipient selected by the Riverview Scholarship Committee.

This September, Ella will be attending Dalhousie University to study Kinesiology, where she will also compete as a member of the Dalhousie Track & Field Team. Her long-term goal is to pursue a career in Physiotherapy.

Congratulations once again, Ella! We wish you the very best next year and in the years to come! 💙🧡

Another Great Weekend Supporting Our Community! 💙🧡

At Wadden Physiotherapy & Sport Performance, we're proud to be more than just a clinic - we're committed to supporting our community both inside and outside our walls.

Over the past few months, our team had the privilege of providing physiotherapy coverage at two incredible events:

🏅 Motionball Marathon of Sport Unama'ki Cape Breton (Yesterday) – We were thrilled to support an amazing event that raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Canada while celebrating inclusion, teamwork, and the power of sport.

🏃 2026 Regional Acadian Games (May 15–17) – It was an honour to help care for talented young athletes as they competed, challenged themselves, and represented their communities with pride.

A huge thank you to the organizers, volunteers, athletes, coaches, families, and everyone who made these events such a success. We're grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in helping athletes perform at their best and stay healthy throughout competition.

We look forward to continuing to support sport and active living across Cape Breton!

🏗️ We're thrilled to share another update on our new clinic! 🏗️

While we've learned not to share exact opening dates just yet, we can confirm that progress is moving along nicely thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, and we couldn't be more excited.

It's amazing to see our new Wadden Physiotherapy and Sport Performance location at Seventh Exchange starting to come together step by step. With every visit to the site, we can see more of the vision becoming reality, and it's getting easier to picture the space where we'll soon be welcoming patients and members of our community.

We're incredibly grateful to everyone helping bring this project to life, and we can't wait to open the doors and share it with all of you.
