Obviously there are practical and ethical considerations in therapy. Scope, training, competence, personality fit, therapeutic approach, goals, etc. all matter. That is exactly why consultations are so important.

The clients I work best with are usually not a specific diagnosis or presentation. They are people who are curious, reflective, open to understanding themselves more deeply, and genuinely wanting things to feel different; even if part of them is terrified of change too.

Therapy works best when it feels collaborative, safe, and human. That fit matters both ways.

There’s a difference between saying something that is technically true… and saying something that is actually helpful.

Therapy is not about winning the interaction, proving a point, or saying the harshest thing in the room. It’s about creating enough safety for people to become curious instead of defensive.

One thing about me… I am going to try to understand the “why” behind things. Not just the behaviour itself, but what is underneath it, what purpose it serves, where it came from, and what your nervous system learned along the way.

Before becoming a parent myself, I understood parenting intellectually. I could understand the concepts, the nervous system overwhelm, the invisible labour, the burnout, the constant giving to everyone around you.

And then I became a twin mom 😭

There is something incredibly humbling about realizing how difficult it can be to “fill your cup” when you are mentally tracking naps, meals, appointments, emotions, routines, sleep deprivation, and everyone else’s needs at the same time.

I still absolutely believe parents deserve support, rest, identity, regulation, and care outside of caregiving roles. But I also think becoming a parent gave me a much deeper understanding of just how hard it can be to access those things in the first place.
