This is Faith, one of our therapy horses, working through something new and uncertain.
At first, the obstacle felt like too much. Rather than forcing her through it, we slowed down, offered reassurance, and made a few adjustments so the challenge felt more manageable.
With patience, support, and encouragement, Faith was able to move forward.
Children often need the same thing.
When a child is struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or a lack of confidence, they don’t necessarily need the challenge removed. They may need a safe relationship, smaller steps, and opportunities to experience:
“This is hard… but I can do hard things.”
🌱 Start where they are.
🌱 Break challenges into manageable steps.
🌱 Offer connection and encouragement.
🌱 Adjust when something feels overwhelming.
🌱 Celebrate effort, bravery, and progress.
At Hooves of Hope Ranch, our animal-assisted therapy sessions give children opportunities to build confidence, work through fears, strengthen emotional regulation, and experience success alongside our therapy animals.
