Myth: Calling police for a wellness check means someone will face charges.

Fact: Wellness checks are meant to protect, not punish. Officers attend to ensure a person is safe and connected to the help they may need.

A wellness check is simply a way for us to confirm someone is okay when there are concerns about their wellbeing. Reaching out for help is never something to hesitate about - it can make a meaningful difference. If you’re worried about a friend, neighbour, or family member, contacting police for a wellness check is a responsible and caring step.
