“But their mask fit-test certificate is still valid!” 😳
That doesn’t mean their mask or respirator is sealing properly today.

A loose strap, poorly positioned nosepiece or even a change in facial dimensions can affect the seal.

“It’s still an N95. What’s the big deal?”
“N95” is a classification, not a complete product identifier. If purchasing records, inventory labels and fit-test records do not clearly identify the approved product, an employee could unknowingly receive a different mask.

Reusable respirators add even more decisions involving facepieces, filters, cartridges, cleaning, maintenance and replacement.

Read the article to learn what employers should standardize so the equipment issued after mask or respirator fit testing matches the equipment documented during it.
