Self-Awareness is the beginning of every meaningful change .

Whether we're talking about the way we move, the way we hold tension in our bodies, the patterns we repeat, or the emotions that arise within us- before we can change something, we have to be able to notice it .

Awareness gives us information. It helps us recognize. "Oh this is what I'm doing, this is what I'm feeling, this is what's happening in my body."

But here's the part we sometimes forget: awareness doesn't automatically mean we're ready to change .

Sometimes, simply seeing a pattern is the work for now. We may need time to understand it, feel it, sit with it, or build enough safety and capacity before we're ready to do something differently .

And that's okay.

There's no prize for changing before you're ready .

Self-awareness isn't about judging what you discover or immediately trying to fix it. It's about becoming curious enough to meet yourself where you are .

Because awareness creates choice .

And when you're ready, that choice creates the possibility for change. ♥️

Your retirement account is not the only investment that matters.

What about the investment you make in your body—so you can keep moving, exploring, playing and doing the things you love?

What about the investment in your relationships—the people who make life richer, more connected and more meaningful?

What about investing in your curiosity, creativity and sense of purpose—the parts of you that don’t retire when your career does?

We spend so much time preparing financially for the future.

But a truly rich future needs more than money.

It needs a body you can live in, people you want to share life with, and a sense of aliveness that gives you somewhere to go when the working years are over.

Your future self is worth investing in today.

How often do you move from one thing to the next without ever really arriving?

The emails, the errands, the appointments, the conversations, and the next task... Sometimes the day moves quickly and our bodies simply keep following along without ever being present.

This is one of my favorite little practices for creating a moment of transition.

Before I get out of the car, I pause .

I let my eyes slowly move around the space. I notice what I can see, hear, and sense around me. I'm not trying to make anything happen or force myself to relax .

I'm simply giving my attention to what is here, right now .

This is called orienting- a simple somatic practice of noticing your environment and allowing yourself to connect with the present moment .

And sometimes, that tiny pause is enough to create a little more space between where you've been and where you're going .

You don't always need another 20-minute practice .

Sometimes you just need to arrive.Fully.

The problem isn't that there isn't enough information about regulating your nervous system.

It's that there's too much — and none of it was written for you.

You've tried the hacks. Saved the reels. Read the books. Done the cold plunges. And still — it seems to work for everyone else, but not for you.

Here's the truth: you're not doing it wrong. You're just working from someone else's map.

The Power of Nervous System Variability is a six-week in-person series — part workshop, part practice — designed to help you find your map. Not generic tools. Not another hack. Real exploration and guided support to discover what actually feels right in your body, your nervous system, your life.

You'll leave day one with tools that work — because they were built with you, not for the masses.

Six weeks. Small group. Your map, not anyone else's.

Chronic performance keeps our nervous system in a low-grade state of alert- always "on," always monitoring, always scanning.
Research on stress physiology shows that sustained vigilance like this can wear on the body over time.
Rest, real rest, isn't a reward we earn. It's regulation, and It's medicine.
This is what self-care actually looks like sometimes.

Not a routine or a checklist, just stillness reclaimed.

Curiosity before certainty. Always.

We tend to think we need to know which pose, which practice, which path is "right" before we're allowed to begin.

But that's backwards. The knowing comes from the exploring — not before it.

Exploration isn't the opposite of serious practice. It's the doorway into it. When you let yourself experiment without needing to get it right, you find out what actually lives in your body — not what you were told should.

So instead of asking "am I doing this correctly," try asking "what happens if I try this." Let it be messy. Let it be curious. Let it be a little bit fun.

The space you create to explore from doesn't need rules yet. It just needs room.

Embodiment is being in your body, in your mind and in the present moment. Many of us rarely are in all three places at the same time.
A simple practice for embodiment is taking a few moments before you start your day just to feel your breath and notice where you are in your body.

Perhaps that is true of us, too.

Within each of us lives a quieter, fuller version of who we are capable of becoming.

Not because we need to be fixed, but because every season invites us to release what no longer serves us and make room for what has been waiting all along.

You are allowed to outgrow old versions of yourself. That isn't the loss of who you are—it is the unfolding of who you've always had the potential to become.

Perhaps our greatest transformation is not about becoming more, but about having the courage to hide less.

The Hearth
Starts August 4 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

A gathering place for women who crave connection — quietly.

If you’re someone who longs to belong, but finds most social spaces a little too loud, a little too “on,” a little too much — this is for you.

The Hearth is a simple, unhurried hour where women gather without agenda. There’s tea and low-key activity options from mindful colouring to reading to gentle guided movement. There’s no mingling required, no hot seat introductions, no performance of any kind.

Just women, in a room together, being exactly as they are.

(Yes, as an introvert myself, I realize the irony of trying to rally introverts. I hope you’ll come out anyway!)

You don’t have to talk. You don’t have to share. You only have to show up — and even that, we’ll keep easy.

The Hearth is offered six weeks at a time, weekly. One hour. A seat that’s always yours. Join us once, twice, or every time.

For the woman who is quietly desperate for her people — and just needed somewhere safe to find them.

This event is hosted by Julie Chapman, a Certified Yoga Therapist, who specializes in supporting women through life’s transitions.

Free for members of My Inner Harbour. $30 for all 6 sessions for non-members. $10 drop-in per session.
