This line up of talks at the Pictou library will be fascinating. Attend in person or watch via Zoom.

All are welcome to the Library for an engaging journey through our province's past. Over four weeks, expert speakers will share fascinating stories and insights about the events that shaped Nova Scotia. And refreshment will be provided! Can't make it in? Zoom live streams to each talk will be available.

Talks will be held every Tuesday from June 23 to July 14 at the Pictou Library located at 99 Water St., Pictou, Nova Scotia. The speakers, dates, and topics are:

Join us at the New Glasgow library this upcoming Wednesday (May 13) at 2 pm for a talk and workshop on Paleography - the study of old handwriting.

This presentation will be led by James Lees, who holds a PhD in history from Oxford University. In the first part of the presentation, James will give an overview of historic handwriting, and for the second part James will conduct a workshop to help people read different handwriting samples (with a focus on the 1700s, the 1800s, and the early 20th century).

Everyone is encouraged to bring examples of handwriting that they would like James to examine (and with careful examination, decipher). This will be a fascinating event!
All are welcome to attend.
