Computing for Humanity Computing for Humanity provides researchers with supercomputing power.More research more discoveries! Research doesn´t know frontiers. Stay tuned for more!

As part of our rebranding, The Supercomputer for Cancer Research, known as Cancer Computer has changed its name to Computing for Humanity, implementing a broader mandate to find treatments for diseases, develop new technologies, and solve some of the world's most pressing challenges. This mission strives to provide high performance computing resources for researchers. Computing for Humanity recycles donated hardware from our cherished partners, refurbishes the gear to high performance industry standards (often near 80% of its original lifespan) and donates the machines to researchers. In order to accomplish this, we upgrade the memory, change the drives and optimize the system. Our partnerships with our donors and partners are key to giving support to our endeavors. We have provided over 258,352,800 core computing hours since the project began in 2015. Currently, we are serving 18 universities and 5 research centers with 31 projects across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Japan. From cell phones to AI, Michael Binder has watched Canada connect and reconnect for decades. 📡

Former CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Computing for Humanity board member, he sat down with us to talk about who gets access to computing power, and why it matters.

"How do we make sure everybody has equal access to the ability to create and to innovate?"
That's the question behind everything we do at CFH. ♻️💻 We refurbish donated computers and give researchers, students, and nonprofits affordable Canadian cloud computing through MyResearchCloud.ca.

🎙️ New Research Spotlight: K**a Szereszewski

K**a Szereszewski wears two hats — she runs the Master of Biotechnology program at Carleton University (Official) and leads a med-tech deep tech incubator. So when she talks about what's holding Canadian innovation back, she's seeing it from both sides of the lab bench.

In this episode, she breaks down:
🧬 How AI is speeding up genomic and peptide data analysis for researchers
🤝 Why bridging academia and industry starts with removing access barriers
🔒 Why data sovereignty isn't optional when patient data is on the line
"Enabling researchers to keep that information in-house and secure will definitely support a lot." — K**a Szereszewski

At Computing for Humanity, we believe no human advancement should wait in line for computing time. That's why myresearchcloud.ca exists — affordable, secure, Canadian-hosted compute for researchers, nonprofits, and innovators who can't wait for a grant to catch up with their ambition.

A discovery isn't the goal. Impact is. 🌍💡

A new treatment. A cleaner planet. A better understanding of our world.
Behind every breakthrough: an idea, months of data, and a researcher determined to find answers.
Without the right computing power, that research slows down — and so does the change it could bring.
My Research Cloud exists because of donors like you — giving researchers across every field the tools to move faster. ☁️

Your support isn't just funding research. It's funding what comes next.

What does it take to prepare the next generation of researchers for an AI-driven world? According to Dr. Hamzeh Khazaei, Director of the PACS Lab at York University, it's not more lectures — it's hands-on experience with real computing infrastructure, starting in university.

That's exactly what myresearchcloud.ca, a service of , was created to provide: free and affordable Canadian-hosted cloud computing that equips the next generation of researchers with the tools they need to drive scientific discovery.

"People often see the results, but they don't always see the infrastructure that made those results possible." — Dr. Hamzeh Khazaei

We sat down with Dr. Khazaei, Associate Professor at the of Engineering at and the Director of the PACS Laboratory, to talk about what's really standing between researchers and breakthrough AI: access to computing power.

His take? The next generation of scientists won't just need great ideas — they'll need real, industry-scale infrastructure to test them.

That's the gap Computing for Humanity exists to close through My Research Cloud 💻🌍

Watch the full conversation, meet the PACS Lab team and read more about why compute access shapes who gets to do research — and what questions get asked.

AI can help discover new medicines and treatments.

But first, researchers need access to computing.

That's why we're building nonprofit research infrastructure that makes AI and cloud computing more accessible to researchers everywhere.

Because scientific discovery shouldn't be limited by infrastructure.
