Mental health does not exist in isolation; it is shaped by the environments, systems, and communities we live within.

For 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, experiences of stigma, discrimination, exclusion, and barriers to affirming healthcare can have a significant impact on mental health and wellbeing.

Research shows that social determinants of health, such as income, housing, social support, access to care, and experiences of discrimination, play an important role in shaping health outcomes.

Understanding these broader influences is essential in creating more inclusive, affirming, and equitable systems of care.

This Pride Month, we recognize that supporting mental health means addressing the social and systemic factors that affect wellbeing. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

World Eating Disorders Action Day reminds us that eating disorders do not have a โ€œlookโ€ and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or body size. ๐Ÿ’œ

Early recognition and access to evidence-based care can make a meaningful difference, and support can begin at any stage of recovery.

We also recognize that many people still face significant barriers to care, including limited access to specialized services and ongoing stigma. This is why advocacy, education, and system-level change matter.

Did you know? ๐Ÿค

Boys and men who identify as gay or bisexual are at significantly higher risk of eating disorders compared to their heterosexual peers.

These findings highlight the impact of stigma, minority stress, and body image pressures on mental health.

Eating disorders are not just a โ€œwomenโ€™s issue.โ€
They affect people of all gendersโ€”and inclusive, affirming care matters.
