One year of The Birth Way 💛

Today marks ONE YEAR since I officially started The Birth Way Doula Services!

It’s honestly hard to believe how much has happened in just one year.

I’ve supported families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I’ve witnessed strength, vulnerability, unexpected turns, beautiful moments and everything in between. I’ve continued learning, growing my resources, connecting with other birth professionals and finding my place in this incredible community.

But when I look back on this first year, the thing I’m most grateful for isn’t a milestone or a number.

It’s the people 💛

The families who trusted me. The birth stories you shared with me. The referrals. The messages. The encouragement. The people who have followed along and supported this little dream from the beginning.
Thank you for allowing me to do something I truly love 💛

You may have seen this before, but do you know what it is?

As we approach the end of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, I wanted to share one of the tools that can support a breastfeeding journey: a Supplemental Nursing System (SNS)! ✨

An SNS allows a baby to receive supplemental milk (formula or pumped breastmilk) while nursing at the breast. It can be one option for families who are navigating supplementation while still wanting to spend time at the breast and support their breastfeeding goals💛

There’s no one “right” way to feed a baby, and needing supplementation doesn’t mean breastfeeding has to end!

Birth preparation isn’t about trying to guarantee a pain-free birth. It’s about building tools that can help you feel safe, grounded and supported when things get intense.

The more you practice relaxation before labour, the more familiar those skills can feel when you need them.

Water birth can be such a beautiful option for many families! Warm water may help encourage relaxation, support comfort during labor, and give you more freedom to move and find positions that feel good.

A birth pool isn’t the only way to have a water birth, you may also be able to use your own bathtub, as long as it meets your midwife’s requirements! But how can you see how aesthetic and peaceful our Birth Pools By Grace | Canada’s White Birth Pools are and NOT want to use one during your birth?!

✨ Have you heard of the Miles Circuit? ✨

If you’re in your third trimester and wondering what you can do to help encourage optimal baby positioning, the Miles Circuit is one tool that many birth professionals and pregnant parents use ✨

The circuit consists of 3 simple movements designed to create balance, encourage space in the pelvis, and support baby in finding a favorable position for birth.

Common reasons someone might try the Miles Circuit:

• Baby feels high or unengaged
• Baby’s position is causing discomfort
• Looking for ways to prepare for labor
• Wanting to encourage optimal fetal positioning

While every pregnancy and baby are unique, the Miles Circuit can be a gentle, proactive way to support your body as you approach birth!

Birth isn’t remembered only by what happened, it’s remembered by how you were made to feel 💛

You can have the most “perfect” birth on paper and still leave feeling unheard. And you can have a birth that takes unexpected turns, yet still walk away feeling powerful, respected, and deeply supported.

This is one of the biggest reasons why doula support matters so much to me 🫶🏻

Emotional safety, informed choices, and human connection should never be considered extra. They are part of the care you deserve✨

They’re not just for hydration 😉

Breathing through a straw during labour can help slow and lengthen the exhale, reduce jaw tension, and encourage the body to soften instead of brace.

In birth, a softer jaw often supports a more responsive pelvic floor 💛
