It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Maurice Corey Howard Laforte
on May 16, 2026, at the young age of 26 years.

Maurice III will be dearly missed by his dad Maurice, sisters Brooke (Chris Sr), Bridgette (Fernando), Bethany (Jaiden), Rihanna, Precious, and Arvelle and brothers Aaron (Sandra), Samuel (Artisha), Mark, and Issiah; nieces and nephews Castiel, Raela, Jayla, Rollan, Christopher Jr, Diamond, Blaire, Everleigh, Elijah, Arlo, Domenico, Samantha, Mikailah and a nephew Matteo on the way; his grandmother Vivian Smith (Nathan), his aunties Julia, Karen, Amanda (Vince), Amanda (Anthony), Vanessa and Miranda, his uncles Johnish, Ben (Shelley), Peter, Joseph, Marshall (Deidre) and Richard (Dovana); his best friend Robyn Sinclair and her boys, second family the Wilsons, numerous family and friends.

He was predeceased by his mom Samantha Smith, his baby brother Emilio Laforte, daughter Evelyn Minnie Rose Castel-Laforte, grandparents Maurice Laforte Sr and Elsie Noella Laforte, grandfather Richard Kennedy, aunties Arvelle Somers and Esther Courchene and cousins Aaron and Apollo.

Maurice loved his family so much. He was a proud son, brother, nephew, uncle, grandson and friend. He was always helping in any way he could. His biggest and proudest accomplishment was graduating the Adult Ed Program, receiving his diploma and making his parents and siblings proud.

Maurice grew up to be a hard worker. He always helped his dad outside with yard work, and working on vehicles, he wouldn’t give up until they got the job done. Then he’d go inside and help with dishes mopping or doing laundry.

He always looked up to his dad, always wanted to be like his #1 Hero and role model. His love for his mom and dad was unconditional. All his knowledge and teachings came from his dad. Even when he thought he could do it on his own, he still went to him for advice. He was his dad’s bodyguard even though he was still his baby boy.

Maurice’s favorite hobby was mudbogging. He enjoyed fixing the big trucks driving them and running through them. He always came in 1st Place. Everyone would say he was a gecko running through the pit. He enjoyed travelling to different reserves alongside his dad.

Maurice wanted to attend college and become a Certified Mechanic. He was also looking into carpentry and construction. Maurice worked at numerous places. Tim Horton’s, Beautification Crew, South Beach Casino, Roofing company in Winnipeg, he also had his Lift Training Certificate.

Maurice will be missed dearly and memories within will be cherished forever.

Wake services will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation, Mb, Monday, May 25 to Thursday, May 28, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026. at 2:00pm, final viewing at 1:00pm, with Father Sebastian officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

After a lengthy battle with Kennedy Disease, we announce the passing of our father, brother, uncle, cousin and nephew, Sean Gerrard, on Friday May 22, 2026, at Health Science Centre, at the age of 49 years.

Sean was predeceased by his mother Janice, his uncle Ernest “Tubby” Girard, his granny Verna, grandfather Harold Jones, his uncle-cousin Clifford Girard, his cousin Alexandra Girard and his great grandmother Harriet Girard.

Sean was the father to Tristen, Shania (Tyler), Ariana (Wilson), Seth, Simon, DeSean, Brother to Dale and Dawn (Harold Jr), son of Marcel and Barb Harvey, Uncle to Ernie and Harold III, Nephew to Theresa Girard and Edith Girard, Cousin and Friend.

Sean loved to play sports when he was younger, he liked to play slo-pitch and volleyball. When he stopped playing sports you could always find him playing cards, he liked to play Cribbage, Sean had a long time winning streak amongst his friends and family, that he often liked to brag and tease about. When his sickness began to impact him, he became less involved in those activities. But he still enjoyed his other hobbies, He was avid hat, shoe, and jersey collector, Sean would often be seen repping his favorite hockey team, the Washington Capitals. He would always wear a red Alexander Ovechkin #8 jersey. He really cherished and loved that team a lot whether they made it to the playoffs or not. He would always represent his team.

Sean loved to joke and tease. Especially with his cousins. He had a nickname for everyone. If you knew him well, those darn nicknames were stuck with you. Sean was always proud of his babies and his siblings. Sean was loved by all that knew him for his friendliness and sense of humor. He will be missed by all that know him.

The family would like to express our gratitude for the care and compassion of our father to the GB3 staff at Health Sciences Centre, and to our Auntie Dawn for always taking care of our dad.

Wake is being held at the Christ Church Anglican Hall, Sagkeeng, First Nation, Mb, from Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, May 29, 2026. Funeral service will be held at the Christ Church Anglican, Sagkeeng First Nation on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00pm, final viewing at 1:00pm, with Reverends Nancy and Richard Bruyere officiating. It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darryl James Bruyere on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the age of 36 years old.

Darryl leaves to mourn his children Jayden, Darryl Jr., Layla, Reed, and Avalee, his partner Sydney May, mother of his children Skyla, his parents Connie and Curtis, his siblings Phillip (Michelle), Dawn, Lou (Fran), Steph (Rick), Dylan (Shayna), Sarah (Mitchell), Brandon, and Anthony, godparents Moira and Blake, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and godchildren.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Alma Bruyere, Marie and Phillip Fontaine, uncles Rollie and Trevor Bruyere, goddaughter Rikki Lauren, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Darryl was an avid athlete in his younger years, excelling at hockey, badminton, golf, and especially lacrosse. He was given an opportunity to try out for Akwesasne Lightning in Ontario, where he played for two seasons, leading the team in points each season.

Darryl was a hard worker and worked at various companies in different positions through the years, such as Forbes, Valard, Keewit, Hugh Munroe LTD., etc. He made many friends along the way.

Darryl was an extremely proud and loving father to his five beautiful children. They were his pride and joy, recently teaching his bubs Avalee to walk. Family time was important to him, often requesting dinners and bbq’s, or a lacrosse scrimmage in the yard. He loved to sit in his parents’ yard with all his children, parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He also loved to fish with the boys, where you’d often see him enjoying a Blue, or a round of Blitz, or horseshoes. He will be lovingly remembered for his contagious laugh and teasing from all who knew him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who were with Darryl in his final moments.

Wake services will be held at Connie Bruyere’s residence, 786 North Shore Road, on Friday, May 22, to Monday, May 25, 2026. Funeral will be held at the Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with Father Paul officiating, interment to follow at a later date.

Peacefully we announce the passing of Ted Edward Seymour on May 10, 2026, at the age of 83.

Ted will be deeply missed by his loving children; Ardel, Brian, Hughie (Monica), Cynthia (Randy), Keith (Leslie), Anthony (Danielle), his brothers; Wesley and Herman, his sisters; Bertha, Louise, Doreen and Shirley, and by all of his cherished grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Della, two sons; Warren and Darren, parents; Wilfred and Matilda, siblings; Gabriel, Elmer, Katherine, Henry, Agnes, Elsie, Aurelia, and Hank.

Ted was a fisherman at heart with a deep love for the lake, which was not only his passion but also his livelihood. A devoted member of the Catholic church, Ted shared his musical gifts by singing and playing the organ and guitar nearly every Sunday for many years. Throughout his life, he worked many different jobs to provide for his family.

Ted was well known for his humorous demeanor and friendly nature. He loved visiting with everyone he met and found joy in joking, teasing, and telling stories. His warmth, laughter, and presence will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Wake services will be held at Seymourville Hall on May 13-15, 2026.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eryn Courtney Bruyere, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner, cousin and friend, at the age of 38 years.

Eryn will be lovingly remembered by her three moms: mom Shirley, auntie mom Margaret and mommy Christine; her fur babies: Mittens, Stripes, Leeroy, Mayhem, Milton and Kevin; fiancé Gesserit Choquette; sisters: Chasi (Bryan), Mali (Kyra), Dani, Sherry (Kyle), Krystal (Josh) and Toni; brothers: Ian and Connor; nieces and nephews: Logan, Karl, Judas, Laken, Rainbow, Caleb, Orilliah, Colleen, Tobi, Scarlett and Aiyana; aunties and uncles: Aldeen, Darlene, Margaret (Phil), Claudette (Jim), Irma (Mort), Ursula, Etienne (Leah), Floyd, Desmond, Orry, Les, Don and Yvan; in-laws Bob and Susan Choquette, and Zane; numerous cousins, friends and her Healing Lodge family. Eryn worked as a Family Support Worker since 2017 at the Mikaaming Mino Pimatiziwin Healing Lodge until diabetes forced her to take leave. Eryn was a very generous, caring, and loving person who was always willing to give a helping hand. She was a fighter, when this disease started being aggressive she faced every battle with great determination and strength.

Eryn was gifted with several nicknames: Patty P**f, P**fy, P**fballs, Patty, Auntie Poonch, Biggie, Ern, Sissy, Mr. Bigglesworth, Pudgey, Hot Wheels, Machii, Hunny P**f, SisterKIDD, and Patricia La Pouf.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Pine Falls Hospital, Sagkeeng Home Care Nurses, Paramedics, Sagkeeng Fire Department, and Sagkeeng Safety Officers.

Wake service will be held at the family home 49017 South Shore Road, Sagkeeng First Nation, MB May 6 to May 9 with a final viewing on Saturday May 9, 2026 at 11 am followed by a graveside service at 12 pm at the St Alexander Roman Catholic Church cemetery with Father Paul officiating. Feast to follow at the Mikaaming Mino Pimatiziwin Healing Lodge.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Deborah Lynn Henderson, our dear mother, sister, and aunt, on April 21st, 2026, at the age of 68 years.

Deborah will be dearly missed by her son Richard Henderson (Claudine), sisters Jean, Myrelene and Caren (Wayne), brothers David (Audrey), Derrick (Debra) and Donald (Andrea), numerous nieces and nephews, students, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Daisy, sisters Kathy and Joan, brothers Donald Jr. II, Darryl, Glen, Gerald, Cyrus, and Michael.

Deborah enjoyed playing bingo daily at the Sagkeeng Band Hall with her sister Caren, always sitting in their favorite spot. She enjoyed wearing jewelry and rings. She and Caren often went to get their nails done and would make sure to stop at South Beach on their way home. Her pride and joy was always her son Richard, and as a single parent, she raised a respectful and hardworking man. She was the Science teacher at the Sagkeeng Anicinabe High School for many years up until her retirement, forging lasting memories with her students.

The family would like to thank George M. Guimond Care Home and their staff for their compassion and care for Deborah.

Wake is being held at her sister Jean Boulette’s residence, 44 Letander Road, Sagkeeng, First Nation, Mb, from Friday, April 24th to Monday, April 27th, 2026. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm at the Christ Church Anglican, Sagkeeng First Nation, on April 27th, 2026, with Reverends Nancy and Richard Bruyere officiating.
