Robert Charles Fontaine
It’s with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Charles Fontaine on August 14, 2026, at the age of 73 years.
Robert leaves to mourn his wife Wanda Fontaine, his sister Beatrice Guimond, his children Christian Edwards (Shawna), Cheryl Bird (Dennis), Dave Dorie (Kathy), Christopher Courchene (Tammy), Ashley Daniels (George), Wesley Fontaine (Kerrie), Faith Fontaine (Sheldon), Cassy Daniels (Leonard), Tyler Fontaine (Shania), Robby Fontaine (Sayde), Jacob Fontaine and Noah Fontaine, as well as his 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his mom Esther Fontaine, stepdad Alphonse Fontaine, his dad Phillip Guimond, his daughter Krystal Courchene, his siblings Mabel Harry, Roger Girard and Charles Fontaine.
Robert was born on October 31, 1952, in Pine Falls, Manitoba. He resided in Sagkeeng most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Dad loved his Winnipeg Jets, scratch tickets, and spending time with his grandchildren and kids. Dad worked many jobs, he was arena attendant/Zamboni driver, school bus driver, shop teacher, contractor, he also was a volunteer firefighter for many years with Sagkeeng Fire Department, he even maintained the Fire Hall on the North Shore. He volunteered his time coaching and driving kids to their games and being a board member for Sagkeeng CFS. Halloween was his favorite time of the year; he loved being silly and always wanted to make you smile or laugh. Dad had a great sense of humour, always joking around with everyone. He was an amazing father, he always built and fixed things for his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife and family.
Wake is being held Monday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation, Mb. Funeral service will follow in the Church on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with Father Paul officiating. Interment at a later date.
