Massage therapy is one of the most widely used therapeutic health services in Canada…yet it’s the only major regulated therapy still charging patients GST/HST. When someone sees a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or psychotherapist, their care is tax-free. When they see a Registered Massage Therapist for the same clinical reason, they pay tax on it.

That’s not fair, and it’s not affordable. The good news: the federal government has already confirmed thatmassage therapy meets the criteria for a GST/HST exemption, and it used the exact same mechanism to make psychotherapy tax-free in 2024. What’s left is a decision…and the fall 2026 budget is being written right now.

The Canadian Massage Therapist Association has launched a national campaign to get it done, and we need your help. Here’s how you can make a difference in just a few minutes:

We’re excited to offer a new service designed to help you relax, restore, and feel your best from the inside out.

Our Therapeutic Facial Massage combines the benefits of registered massage therapy with skin-focused care to create a truly restorative experience. This specialized treatment targets the face, jaw, scalp, neck, and shoulders to help relieve tension, reduce stress, improve circulation, and support healthy skin.

Whether you’re dealing with jaw clenching, TMJ discomfort, tension headaches, facial tension, or simply feeling the effects of everyday stress, each treatment is customized to your individual needs. Gentle lymphatic drainage, warm towels, therapeutic massage techniques, and professional skincare products work together to leave you feeling refreshed, renewed, and deeply relaxed.

This is more than a traditional facial and more than a relaxation massage. It’s a therapeutic treatment designed to support both your physical well-being and your overall sense of calm.

As a small business owner, one of the most rewarding parts of what I do is seeing the positive changes that happen when people choose to invest in their health and well being.

Often, people come to Healthy Roots because of pain, stress, tension, anxiety, or simply feeling “off.” What inspires me is seeing how small, consistent steps can lead to meaningful changes over time. A massage appointment, a chiropractic adjustment, an acupuncture treatment, a counseling session, or simply taking an hour to focus on yourself can make a bigger difference than you might realize.

We live in a world that encourages us to stay busy and put ourselves last. But your health is not something to save for later. Taking care of yourself is not a luxury. It is one of the best investments you can make.

No matter where you are on your wellness journey, remember that progress does not have to be perfect. Small steps forward are still steps forward.

A Gentle Reminder

You do not have to have everything figured out.

Life can be busy, messy, beautiful, challenging, and rewarding, sometimes all in the same day. It is okay if your journey does not look like someone else’s. It is okay if healing takes time. It is okay if progress feels slow.

Every healthy meal, every walk around the block, every counseling session, every chiropractic adjustment, every massage, every moment spent caring for yourself is a step forward.

Small steps are still steps.
