To the healthcare professionals reading this: we see you. 🤍

You spend your days caring for others, often while carrying more than anyone realizes.

The long shifts. The staffing shortages. The impossible decisions. The patients you never forget. The pressure to keep going, even when you’re exhausted.

One of our therapists, Jody Kennedy, understands this world firsthand. Before becoming a therapist, Jody worked in healthcare as both an RN and a perfusionist. She understands the realities of working within the Canadian healthcare system—the demands, the limitations, the moral distress, and the feeling that no matter how much you give, it sometimes feels like it isn’t enough.

Many healthcare professionals struggle with burnout, compassion fatigue, anxiety, grief, and the impact of witnessing trauma over time.

You don’t have to carry it all alone.

Whether you’re looking for support, a place to process difficult experiences, or simply someone who understands the unique challenges of healthcare work, we’re here.

Taking care of yourself isn’t stepping away from patient care. It’s part of it. 🌱

Psychiatrist or therapist? Sometimes the answer is both. 🤍

One helps from a medical perspective. The other helps you make sense of your experiences, emotions, patterns, and relationships.

Mental health support isn’t about choosing the “right” professional—it’s about finding the support that fits your needs right now.

Some people benefit from therapy alone. Some benefit from medication. Many benefit from a combination of both.

Wherever you’re starting, you don’t need to have it all figured out. Reaching out is often the hardest step, and it’s okay if you’re still deciding what kind of support feels right for you.

🌱 There is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Only the path that works for you.

Your brain is working harder than you think. 🧠✨

Executive functions are the behind-the-scenes skills that help you navigate daily life and when they’re struggling, even simple tasks can feel overwhelming.

Here are the 8 executive functions to know:

🛑 Impulse Control – pause before reacting
⏰ Time Management – staying on track with goals
🗂️ Organization – keeping life manageable
🚀 Task Initiation – starting (and finishing!) without procrastinating
🔍 Self-Monitoring – checking in with yourself
🌸 Flexibility – adapting when plans change
🧩 Working Memory – using what you know to act
📋 Planning & Prioritizing – breaking goals into steps

Struggling with any of these doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with you. It often means your nervous system needs support.

Therapy can help you build these skills in a way that actually fits your life. 💙

👇 Which one do you find most challenging? Drop it in the comments.

Meanwhile inside your brain:

One chemical is motivating you.
One is calming you down.
One is helping you bond with people.
And one is sounding the internal fire alarm because someone said, “Can we talk?” 😅

The human brain is exhausting and impressive all at once.

Sometimes the brain does not need another deep dive.
Sometimes it needs movement.

Walking helps regulate the nervous system, lower stress hormones, increase serotonin and dopamine, and quiet some of the mental noise we carry around all day.

It is one of the first things recommended for anxiety and depression for a reason.

Not because it magically fixes everything.
But because it helps the brain and body reconnect.

You do not need a perfect routine.
You do not need a five kilometre hike.
Sometimes a slow walk around the block is enough to shift something inside you.

The brain likes movement more than we give it credit for.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Some days you cry. Some days you vent. Some days you sit there not knowing what to say.
All of it can still be therapy.

Dr. and Dr. sit down together to discuss the five Rs of repair.

Regret
Rationale
Responsibility
Repentance
Repair

Responsibility and Repair are two that stand out.
For example: “Here is what I own and what I did wrong” or the common saying rings true “The best apology is changed behaviour”.

Repair implies we have done all these five things in action.
