"I don't want to sit across from someone and have to explain everything that's ever happened to me."

This is one of the most common things I hear from women before their first session. They're not ready to go there yet. And honestly, I understand why.

But here's what I want you to know.

You don't have to.

Somatic Experiencing doesn't require you to revisit every painful memory or talk through your trauma from beginning to end. We don't start at the beginning of your story. We start where your body is right now.

Real words from real first sessions:

"Within 5 minutes I was crying. I had NO memory or mental connection to a sad event while I was crying."

"I aaaalmost wanted to laugh...my mouth just formed a smile and I felt that build up that almost spilled into laughter."

"I left feeling so light and cheery. I had the urge to sing and dance. The urge has lasted days later."

If you've been putting it off, this is your sign. 💜

I'm Pam, a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner at Sephira Healing.

When did you start judging your breasts?

If you ever look at your breasts and wish they were firmer, higher, smaller, larger, or more like they used to be, I’ve been making something for you.

I’ve spent nearly 30 years working in breast health, and I’ve seen how much attention we give to checking our breasts for problems.

We spend far less time talking about how we feel about them.
Especially as they change through pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, surgery and life.

So I’ve been working on something very close to my heart.
Breast Health Affirmation Cards. 💜

A collection of beautiful cards showing breasts of different ages, shapes, sizes and experiences, paired with affirmations meant to help us think differently about the relationship we have with our breasts.

They’re almost ready. I think they’ll make a really meaningful gift for yourself or a woman you care about.

I can’t wait to start showing you what we’ve created. Here's a sneak peek!

Would you want to see a few more of the cards before they launch? 👇

I can often trace someone’s breast pain straight back to their neck. Sounds strange, but here’s why. 💻🌸

If you spend your working hours hunched over a laptop or looking down at a screen, your neck, upper back, and shoulders are carrying a tremendous amount of strain.

Those tight fibers pull directly on the fascia and tissue running down into your chest. That mechanical pull can trap fluid and compress nerves — sending a deep, stinging, or aching sensation right into your breast and chest tissue.

If you don’t release your neck and restore movement to your upper spine, the restriction keeps coming back.

Take a moment right now to:
✨ Roll your shoulders down and back
✨ Take a full belly breath
✨ Give your chest room to expand

If desk tension has settled into your chest, myofascial release and massage therapy can help. Book at sephirahealing.ca.

Share this with a friend who works at a desk all day. 👩‍💻

“I don’t know why I’m crying.”

Her appointment had barely begun. Her intake form just said tight shoulders and a stiff upper back. But the moment I touched her neck, the weight she’d been holding for months, maybe years, finally had somewhere to go.

After nearly 30 years, this doesn’t surprise me anymore. Most of the time, the tears come because the pressure has gotten so heavy, and for the first time in a long time, there’s finally a safe space to release it.

That one conversation is what inspired this month’s article: why so many women live with pain far longer than they should, and how to gently start paying attention again.

Read it on the blog (link below). And if something’s been sitting on your own back burner, this one’s for you. 🤍

I'm Listening, You Asked
For those of you who want to see me for individual trauma recovery or healing sessions and perhaps you want to have your insurance company cover all or some of these sessions, I have an announcement!
I'm going back to school part-time to become a social worker. I'm going to take communication skills, ethics, social policy and do some practicums- all within an anti-oppressive, indigenous, & feminist framework. I have always wanted to become a social worker- it's been a dream of mine since high school.
I did my BA in sociology and women's studies years ago and have worked in many different settings. Initially, I was led from that into the healing power of touch therapy, which I have enjoyed for the past 30 years, and still holds true to my work today.
But I've always felt the desire, the pull, to go back to my dream of connecting with social work principles and values that are so deeply ingrained into my being, and permeate through to my work with my clients already, and so that, along with my somatic experiencing training, will enable me to further meet you and hold you and care for you in the way that I really aspire to.
I am here for you and will continue to be there for you in the future.
It feels like I have come full circle!
You asked, and I’m ready to do it!

Most women blame these things on aging, hormones, or bad genetics.

But here's what's actually happening:
When cortisol stays too high for too long, your body starts breaking down under chronic stress. 😮‍💨 Your gut, your skin, your hair, your sleep. All of it.

And you can't just "think" your way out of it. The stress gets stored in your body and eventually it starts showing up exactly like that list above.

Women spend years trying to fix these symptoms one by one. A new shampoo. A different diet. Better skincare. More sleep. And some of it helps for a while. But when the nervous system is still stuck in survival mode, the body keeps sending the same signals.

That's what Somatic Experiencing works with. 💜

It's a gentle, body-based approach that helps your nervous system release stored stress safely, at a pace your body can handle.

I'm Pam, a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner at Sephira Healing in Saskatoon.

If you’re ready to get out of survival mode, book a session at sephirahealing.ca. 💜

Attention RMT's!

I'm teaching at the Canadian Massage Conference in Calgary this fall.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00, I'll be leading a workshop on Breast and Chest Massage Therapy. It's one of the most overlooked modalities in our field, and it's one of the most important.

In those two hours, we'll get into:
• Why breast and chest work belongs in your RMT toolkit
• The anatomy and physiology of the area, including the lymphatic system
• How to address this region safely and effectively with hands-on technique

If you've ever felt unsure about working this area with clients, this is where you start building the skill and the confidence.

The conference runs September 23 to 25 at the Carriage House Hotel, and it's approved for CE credits through CMMOTA and NHPC.

Want the full deep dive? I teach a complete Breast and Chest Massage Therapy class for RMTs in Saskatoon, worth 14 CECs, and the next one runs November 6 and 7. Spots are limited, so email me at [email protected] to get on the waitlist.

Hope to see you there.

“Why does one side always hurt more?” It’s one of the most common questions I get. 🌸

One-sided pain or discomfort is often connected to your daily habits and where your body stores tension.

For example:
✨ Do you carry your bag on the same shoulder?
✨ Sleep mostly on one side?
✨ Sit turned toward a second monitor all day?
✨ Cross the same leg over and over?

Those small repetitive habits can cause the muscles and fascia on one side of your chest to tighten and restrict movement.

And many women naturally retain more fluid at certain points in their cycle — or through perimenopause. That fluid tends to build up faster in tissue that already feels compressed. 💜

Sometimes your “problem side” is simply the side carrying the heavier load.

Lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, cupping, and breast & chest massage therapy can help reduce restriction, support fluid movement, and give the tissue room to move properly.

Book at sephirahealing.ca to find out what’s best for you. ✨

Are you scared to touch your scar after your breast or chest surgery?

I get it. Because you've probably heard that doing it wrong, or too early, can disrupt healing.

This should help.

In the early weeks after surgery, tissue is still healing and scar massage is generally not recommended without guidance.

But once the wound has closed and your surgeon gives the go-ahead, usually around 6 to 8 weeks, gentle scar massage can help soften tissue, reduce tightness, improve range of motion, and support reconnection with that part of the body.

Doing it well, at the right time, can make a real difference.

If you don't want to do it alone, I work with post-surgical clients regularly and can guide you through what’s appropriate for where you are in recovery.
