Baby Finnegan was born at home Aug 11 at 4:10 am. It was a very swift birth, 5 hours from start to finish. We are all doing well and Nora is loving being a big sister.

POV You’re going out at 40 weeks pregnant….

> The baby will come when they are ready
> We are planning a home birth
> We don’t know the gender
> I am actually feeling GREAT
> I get adjusted several times a week

But in honesty, people have been great and very encouraging. I enjoy being pregnant and breaking common pregnancy misconceptions.

I have such deep trust and gratitude for my body. I truly feel great, strong and capable. I attribute so much of that to chiropractic and getting adjusted.

Maternity leave starts August 1st, and I’ve got two awesome chiros covering RWC while I’m gone.

Tuesday mornings, you’ll see Dr. Charlene Howard. She’s a local Squamish chiro focused on pediatrics and pregnancy, and fun fact, she and I have been swapping adjustments for over a year now.

Wednesday afternoons, Dr. Andreas Stridsland (yes, my husband) will be seeing patients two years and up. He’s a concussion, vestibular, and nervous system rehab specialist. He’s also around during his normal clinic hours in his own space and you’re welcome to book with him any time that works for you.

Little ones under two are in great hands with Dr. Charlene on Tuesday mornings. She’s ICPA certified and has been adjusting her own 6 month old since birth.

I’ll be checking email periodically. I’m planning a couple months off and will be back in clinic around early November.

Thank you for trusting me and this practice with your family’s care. So grateful for this community ✨

Your pregnancy care shouldn’t look the same at 8 weeks as it does at 38 weeks.
Because what your body needs in the first trimester is completely different from what it needs in the third. And your nervous system, the system coordinating every single change happening in your body, shifts at every stage too.

FIRST TRIMESTER (Weeks 1–13): Adaptation + Regulation
Your body is experiencing a massive hormonal surge. Morning sickness, fatigue, emotional excitement. Your nervous system is working hard to adapt to rapid change. Early in care, I focus on supporting that regulation, paying particular attention to vagal tone and how your body is managing the demands of those first weeks.

SECOND TRIMESTER (Weeks 14–27): Alignment + Space
Baby’s growth accelerates. Your centre of gravity shifts. Round ligament discomfort shows up. This is when we shift focus to pelvic balance, using Webster Technique, and supporting your spine as your posture changes. The goal is giving your body the best possible foundation heading into the third trimester.

THIRD TRIMESTER (Weeks 28–40): Positioning + Preparation
Maximum physical change. Sciatica, p***c symphysis pain, rib pressure. Your body is doing an enormous amount of work to prepare for birth. Weekly care at this stage focuses on pelvic alignment and nervous system support. What I commonly see in practice is that moms who’ve had consistent third-trimester care feel more prepared and tend to report more positive birth experiences overall. ✨

Your nervous system is coordinating organ shifts, blood volume increases, hormone fluctuations, postural changes, and baby’s development all at once. When it’s well-supported, you tend to feel that difference.

You’re not just carrying a baby. You’re doing something extraordinary every single day. Your nervous system deserves support that actually keeps up with that.

“When should I get my baby checked?”

As soon as possible.

Your baby’s first year is the most neurologically active time of their entire life. Their brain is forming 1 million neural connections per second. Their nervous system is learning how to regulate everything: digestion, sleep, immune response, movement, emotional regulation.

Birth is a very physical event. The pressure, pulling, twisting, and compression that can happen during delivery can create tension and imbalances in your baby’s delicate neuro-spinal system, especially in the upper neck.

This interference can show up as:
>> Colic and excessive crying
>> Difficulty latching or nursing on one side
>> Torticollis (head tilting/preference)
>> Reflux and digestive issues
>> Sleep struggles
>> Developmental delays/imbalances in rolling, crawling, sitting

When we check babies (as early as hours or days old), we’re not “fixing” them. We’re removing any interference in their nervous system so their body can develop, heal, and grow the way it’s meant to.

The earlier you support your baby’s nervous system, the stronger their foundation for lifelong health.

A little past halfway and honestly this pregnancy has been such a different experience than the first. 🤰

Babies have this way of being catalysts for change long before they even arrive. I’ve really enjoyed watching that unfold. Andreas is moving his clinic into the house, I have been deep in garden projects and we are about to start some home renovations and redesigns. I’m really trying to think about how we want our home to feel and picking a design with intention.

My prenatal education is completely different too. The books I’m drawn to this time have a different feel and intention. Last time I had done so much reading prior to even conception that I didn’t really want to revisit the content. But now, having actually lived through birth and the postpartum period, I’m coming back to certain things with new eyes. I reread The First 40 days recently and it’s helping me to figure out how I want to prioritize my early postpartum days. I’m really happy with how slow I took it the first time and hoping to prioritize my recovery again even with having a toddler. ✨

I’ve been getting adjusted at least twice a week and my body and nervous system feels great. I had significantly less nausea than last time, energy was low during the first trimester but is back to a good level. I’ve also been getting Acupuncture and somatic release once a month. We also have an incredible doula that helps me to feel supported and I know that I can ask her anything.

Work is good. Family is good. I’m feeling really happy and excited to see what continues to unfold.
More recaps to come. 🌿

Imagine your nervous system as a snow globe. ❄️✨

When it sits undisturbed for too long, the snow settles into stuck patterns. Clumped in corners. Blocking the view.

That’s what we commonly see with nervous system interference.

A chiropractic adjustment is like shaking that snow globe. It introduces motion, energy, new possibility.

But here’s what I love most about this work: we can’t control where each snowflake lands. That’s not our job.

Your innate intelligence does the reorganizing. The same wisdom that heals a cut, grows a baby, and coordinates trillions of functions every single second.

One person’s snow globe settles into better sleep. Another’s into calmer digestion. Someone else notices their mood shift, or their child starts regulating more easily.
We don’t chase symptoms. We trust your body’s wisdom to know what needs reorganizing most.

I provide the adjustment. Your body does the rest. ✨

And every snowflake lands exactly where it needs to be.

Running Wild has technically been around for a while. But it really started one year ago today, when I moved the practice home.

And this past year has felt exactly the way I was hoping it would. The space, the community, the energy. All of it.

The growth and impact this year has been everything I wanted. And I know this is only the beginning. There’s still so much I want to add, build, and grow into.

Thank you for being part of it. For trusting me with your care and your families. For following me on this amazing journey.

Here’s to year two. I cannot wait. 🌻

I’ve been seeing a lot of kiddos with ear infections this year so I wanted to share what I would do if my child had an ear infection:

Step 1: Get them adjusted 👂
The upper neck and ears are the first place I’d look. Tension in that area is closely connected to lymphatic drainage from the ears, and when things aren’t moving well up there, fluid can sit and stagnate. That’s what I commonly see in kids who keep cycling through ear infections.

Step 2: Garlic mullein oil
In and around the ear. Gentle, natural, and really well supported by the evidence for early-stage ear infections.

Step 3: Red light therapy
Helps calm inflammation and supports the body’s own healing process.

Step 4: Warm compress
Simple, soothing, and helps with drainage and comfort.

Step 5: Follow-up adjustment the next day
I want to make sure the body is responding well and things are draining the way they should be.

The thing most people don’t realize, ear infections are often a drainage problem as much as an infection problem. The kids I see who respond best to this approach tend to have a lot of tension through the upper cervical spine, which can affect how well the ears drain.

When we address that, the body usually does the rest. ✨
