JOIN US TOMORROW AT THE INDIGENOUS RECONCILIATION GATHERING!

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) invites you to join us at the Indigenous Reconciliation Gathering TOMORROW, June 20, 2026, in Winnipeg, Treaty One Territory.

The event will start at 10 am in the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Winnipeg at 680 Wihuri Road and runs until about 5:30 pm..

The gathering is being hosted in a partnership between SCO, Manitoba Métis Federation, Manitoba Inuit Association, and CFB Winnipeg.

The day is an opportunity to recognize the long-standing relationships between the Canadian Armed Forces and Indigenous communities and to celebrate a shared commitment to reconciliation.

What to expect:

✦ Live music and performances
✦ Cultural speakers and films
✦ Food trucks
✦ Local vendors and artisans

Parking on site at CFB Winnipeg is very limited during the event.

Guests are encouraged to use the free, continuous shuttle service operating between Polo Park and the Base.

The shuttle will run continuously throughout the event between Polo Park and the Base.

✦ Shuttle service begins at 8:30 am from Polo Park, with pick-up and drop-off every 15 minutes
✦ The final bus departs the Base at 7 pm

Everyone is welcome to join this day of learning, connection, and celebration.

Join us in Steinbach for a 2-day ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) workshop through LivingWorks Canada.

ASIST is an internationally recognized, evidence-based training designed for everyday people — parents, friends, neighbors, coworkers, coaches, volunteers — anyone who wants to feel more confident supporting someone who may be struggling.

Upon completion, participants receive an official LivingWorks ASIST certificate.

During this interactive workshop, you will learn how to:
• Recognize when someone may be thinking about su***de
• Start a direct and caring conversation
• Work with them to develop a plan that supports their immediate safety
• Connect them to further support

No previous training is required. Just a willingness to learn and support others in our community.

💙 June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.

💙 Too many men are taught to suffer in silence, carry every burden alone, and wear a mask that says "I'm good" when they're struggling inside.

💙 Here's the truth:
It's okay to ask for help.
It's okay to talk about your feelings.
It's okay to take a break.
It's okay to not be okay.

💙 Strength isn't measured by how much pain you can hide. Strength is having the courage to speak up, seek support, and prioritize your mental wellness.

💙 As someone who understands that life can bring challenges, setbacks, and storms, I want every man reading this to know that your life matters, your story matters, and your mental health matters.

🔥 The Heat Is On: Stay Safe from Heat Stroke! 🌡️

With soaring temperatures, it’s crucial to understand how heat stroke can strike. When your body can’t cool down effectively, it leads to a dangerous rise in body temperature, causing heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

How Heat Stroke Happens:
🌞 Prolonged exposure to extreme heat
💪 Overexerting yourself in hot weather
🥵 Dehydration, which limits your body’s ability to regulate temperature

Prevent Heat Stroke:
✅ Hydrate – Drink plenty of water throughout the day
👕 Dress Light – Wear loose, breathable clothing
⛱️ Seek Shade – Avoid direct sun for long periods
🛑 Avoid Strenuous Activity – Especially during peak heat

Know the signs: High body temperature, confusion, nausea, and dizziness. If you or someone else experiences these symptoms, seek medical help immediately!
